Not the same service AT ALL
My husband and I bought three timeshares here one in 1981 in the 2000s and then more points last year and I didn’t buy those he did. I’ve noticed that the change in the service has gotten so bad especially since Marriott and Starwood merged together and And brought up so many hotel chains.
I’m what they call a Presidential member which means I’m supposedly supposed to have special benefits and status. When I asked for a late check out today the latest they could possibly give me was 11:00 AM though I didn’t even check in here until 430. Also if you want to know if your room is available for another night they don’t know here at the front desk.
You have to call the Vacation club desk to ask, or the Bonvoy Awards club number or the Vacation Rental Desk, or The Bonvoy points desk to find out. If you ask if you can stay another night if it is available, all the various desks don’t have access to let you know which points program you can use!
I booked this 2 day break online and it says it’s supposed to be easy. I put down exactly what I wanted… even called!
The room should be in the first floor because I can’t carry all the baggage up the stairs and there is no elevator. I didn’t get the asked f bottom floor but at least I’m close to the coffee shop, which I had also requested.
I asked for somebody to help me with my bags because there’s no elevator here I ended up having to carry about myself because the person that was supposed to help me showed up 20 minutes later. AND my daughter’s room wasn’t ready at 4:30! Really.
Now I have tonight tomorrow and up til 11 on Thursday. Really long drive and expense to be treated so average. Not at ALL Presidential.
Rundown facility, negligent staff
I’ve owned timeshare here for 20 years and have sadly watched a beautiful property careen downhill because of continually negligent staff that don’t keep the most basic elements of the rooms in operating order. I’m here now and can’t wait to leave. Sketchy air conditioning;…
Do Not Buy Marriott timeshares
I have owned a timeshare at this location since 1999. I have paid yearly maintenance fees which have doubled since that time. I did everything I was instructed to do in order to book my week for next year, but notwithstanding I was up trying to phone in and to book online, by the time someone responded, all eight minutes later, all units were gone.
Not a good purchase people.
Thought Marriott was better than this. It is NOT.
Marriott property, but NOT Marriott standards
This is the second time we have been here. But we are dissatisfied. We are regular Marriott timeshare owners (Marbella, Aruba). But, this resort insists on treating its guests cheaply. The apartment is spacious and fairly well equipped. But, on small things the resort is…
WHAT HAPPENED?
We have been coming to the Marriott Desert Spring Villas for almost 25 years. Until recently, only Marriott owners (or owners of other properties who transfer in from Interval or RCI) could book a weekend here. Now, rooms are available online through the Marriott webpage
We booked a long weekend in Desert Villas I using a short exchange through Interval.. I requested a ground floor room in a quiet area as my husband was recovering from surgery. As we checked into our room, I had an opportunity to meet the people in the room above us, who seemed like a couple of really nice young ladies. Then the sun went down. Two turned into 6, then 10, then 15 or so. Over the course of the night I called them directly 3 times to ask them to turn down their music. Finally, at 2:30 a.m., I called security. The security guard asked the group (who were outside partying on their balcony and playing really loud music) to take it inside. Okay, so now the music is not just coming in through my windows, it reverberating off my ceiling. Did I mention we came here so my husband could rest and recover from a major surgery?
The next day, I made arrangements to move to a different room. Yep, we had to move because we wouldn’t want to inconvenience the offenders, right? As we were moving our bags into our car to drive to our new unit, 3 more cars pulled up in front of our unit packed with 16 more “guests” to add to the 12 people already staying in the room above us–you know, the one intended for 4. A large 3’x2’x1′ speaker was pulled from each car and taken upstairs. Thank you Christina (front desk receptionist who moved us to a new room) for your help. But God help the people who get that room.
Adding to that is the new element you will meet at the pool. The pool use to be family friendly, but also a nice place for old people to just sit and relax. Now there is just uncontrolled and uncensored loud music blaring, rafts hitting you in the back of the head, kids throwing toys with no regard for their unintended targets and parents who are oblivious to it all.
Anyway, as much as I have always loved this place (my kids practically grew up here), I can no longer recommend it as a place to go if you’re looking for a quiet weekend.
