Big disappointment !!
Worst stay ever at Casa Maya would not recommend this resort to anybody. Everything is about money in the hotel and everything the staff do they expect a tip. Reception staff are very rude and only helpful to their elite members who stay in the resort.
If you are not an elite member you are treated badly.
The resort tricks you into buying time share by offering you free breakfast but in return expect you to buy their timeshare thus wasting your whole day.
Rooms are in need of a serious upgrade not worth staying here rather pay that little extra money to stay at a better resort. It is the ugliest resort in cancun!

Family Vacation
So disappointed, was our 27th anniversary and daughter’s 21st birthday celebration. What a bust! This hotel was nothing but a huge disappointment. Hotel’s guest policy was a joke. We had our adult kids come over a day visit to hang out by pool. There was a daily charge of $25.00 per person in which could be applied towards drinks/food. Which was not a problem. Sadly to our surprise the 2nd day of kids coming to spend day with us (purchased a day pass for day for 3 adult kids) the front desk clerk had security come and escort my son from pool area although we had been buying drinks and food. They wouldn’t allow him to go up to our room to gather his belongings. He was barefoot and shirtless. What a scandal. They didn’t have a problem taking our money or tips. The pool area was definitely not in demand. It was vacant.
The room was a joke, pictures on website show a completely different renovated room. That was not our case. We plaid an extra $150.00 for an upgraded room. That was not the case, it was as we walked into the 80’s.
When we attempted to speak with management it didn’t appear to matter to them. Obviously not a customer service oriented hotel. Will NEVER ever return to this place again. You get what you pay for. Would never recommend such a dump! Will share with our timeshare reps, hopefully no one else will be deceived.
OK, not that great
This hotel claims to have free wifi, but it only works in certain spots and definitely not in my room. When it does work, it’s deathly slow.
Forget about going to the beach unless you go early. They allow the locals to take all of the beach chairs in the best spots so if you get to the beach after 10 AM bring your own lounge chair.
The concierge is going to pressure you to listen to their timeshare spiel.
We did get a great ocean view from our room, but the room needs updating. The dishwasher is coming out from under the counter and the AC is always on high no matter how you adjust the controls. We finally just discovered it’s best to turn one off; otherwise, you freeze to death.
The staff are all very professional and friendly.
No one told us when we checked in that we could buy coupons for the restaurant to save money.
I like that it’s outside the super touristy area, but that also means it’s a drive to go out to eat or shop.
I included a photo from the beach chair I was finally able to get around 4 PM and not one of the people in the resort chairs along the beach are guests of the resort
Charged at every turn
Casa Maya is generally nice, but they will attempt to charge you for everything after telling you its included. Timeshare pitch was complete waste of time, they claim to include free tour and care package, only give them if you sign up.
Overall not bad experience, but ask for price before they offer anything ‘included’. No gratis at Casa Maya
Disappointed Interval Platinum Member
I visited this resort for one week as an interval platinum member. Me and my friend were very disappointed. This was her first trip to Mexico and after staying at Villa Del Palmar last year I decided to save my points and stay at Casa Maya. Big mistake! Upon arrival the room that was given to us was very old and outdated. The walls were dirty.
There was water leaking from a plant that was on a table. There were toenail clippings on the living room floor. It was a mess. Spoke to the manager Patsi who sent a very nice gentleman named Carlos to show us other rooms that were available in the resort.
We ended up transferring to an upgraded room on the seventh floor. The room was better than the first, but the walls still needed a coat of paint and there was mold in the pantry in the kitchen area where clean dishes are stored. The walls were very thin. You could hear every single detail going on in the room that was attached to ours.
The room was habitable for the week that we were scheduled to stay there and was comfortable for the most part, but I would most likely never stay there again. I would either go to my home timeshare resort or book something newer. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. That was a plus!
