Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort

Tacky. Hurghada and the Marriott.

Sorry, we didn’t think this place was so great. The construction and fixtures were cheap, the breakfast was the most disappointing of all the hotels we stayed in Egypt and Israel. Amenities in the room are lousy and an outrageous charge for internet services (as with at all Marriotts.) We did have a nice view of the Sea and enjoyed the pool and beach.

But their aquatic centre was overpriced – instead, we got a great deal on a snorkelling trip through the Sinbad Beach Resort down the road (which was the highlight of the stay in Hurghada – guides were terrific). I think that you have to lower your standards in this resort town. This hotel is certainly not four or five stars by any standard. We should have spent a little more and tried the Oberoi.
