Many of the UK’s timeshare owners are currently tied into contracts with Westgate Resorts – one of the leading timeshare schemes in the USA. Westgate Resorts operate sites across the whole of the US including Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, Daytona Beach, Branson, Mesa, Gatlinburg, Tunica, Myrtle Beach, Park City, River Ranch and Cocoa Beach.
There has been a huge increase in complaints and timeshare release enquires in recent months from customers with Westgate Resorts.
Many concerns centre on the following factors:
If the contract with Westgate Resorts was sold “in perpetuity” or you were pressured into a contract with little knowledge of the implications then you can claim against the resort or a timeshare release on the grounds of mis-selling.
If you believe you had a timeshare contract with Westgate Resorts and you wish to be released from your timeshare scheme & points, please contact one of our experts at Mercantile Claims or fill in the form below.
Westgate Towers is a last resort
Westgate Towers advertises as a “Walt Disney World Good Neighbor” hotel. Hardly.
Our dirty unit featured worn and filthy carpeting in the hallway, mold in both bathrooms, greasy dishes in the cupboards, a non-working dishwasher, a refrigerator door that would not close because the gasket was broken, dollar-store dishes that did not fit in the dishwasher and could not be considered tableware, flimsy silverware, luggage carts with flat tires, dirty blanket on master bed, decorative elevator doors that were patched with strips of duck tape, paper-thin walls through which I really could hear every word of conversation of the neighbors next door, a shower door that was warped and would not close on the bottom, thus leaking all over the floor, bath towels the size of most hand towels, beach towels that literally measured 18″ x 24″….and the final assault was charging $39 for a week of really, really slow internet service which could only be used by one computer.
But wait! There’s more.
Our guests who slept in the convertible sofa awoke covered in bites of some sort. The only outlet in the bedroom — and we searched every wall — is over the sink which means you are at risk for shock if you turn on the water in the sink. To rub salt in the wound of this disgusting unit, we were contacted 3 times to be invited to a sales pitch with talk of the fabulous amenities in a different part of the resort. I wouldn’t invest in a property where I might risk having to stay there again. Never again.

Horrible place
We stayed at Westgate Towers after a day at Disney.
We did not get in until 9:30 PM, my son tried to turn on the air conditioner. It did not work.
I did open the sliding glass door but there was no screen so I had to close it. We ate some supper and then my son went to the desk to tell them about the air, they said ” we will send a technician to fix it”.
I also tried to turn on the ceiling fan but it made a loud clicking noise. I got my 5 year old grand daughter to sleep and then the people in the connecting room came in and turned on the lights.
There was a 2 inch gap underneath the connecting door and about a half inch gap the rest of the way around.
We could hear everything they said and did. I called the desk and she told me we could move rooms, this is at 11:30 PM. I told her I was not going to move my sleeping granddaughter. When I complained to the manager in the morning she said all they were required to do was offer me another room. I told her I was going to write a bad review and she just shrugged her shoulders.
This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. Oh and the TV remote did not work and the pool was closed with no reason given.
Horrible Customer Service
I just returned home a day early from our stay at Westgate Towers. The location and condo are great, while the employees are horrible and lack greatly in customer service.
We checked in having to repeat ourselves constantly as the clerk was texting on his personal cell phone the entire check-in time. We were then handed off to a person “to be our contact for the week” who turned out to be trying to sell us a timeshare (we already own and had traded our week to this location). We then get to our room and our air clicked off and on 24/7. I reported it and no one ever showed the entire week we were there. The first night we were there our neighbours we’re teenagers who partied all night and after numerous calls to the front desk they finally shut off the music.
One night we’d been out at the parks and came in to find our keys wouldn’t work called security from our cell phones and no one ever showed to let us in our room. We flagged down drivers who were taking other guests to let us in. Then two days before we were scheduled to leave the hot water went out in our entire building and we received a note on the door stating they would attempt to work on the hot water the next day between 9 and 3p. We had reported the water being out at 9a that day. I spent an hour on the phone trying to bet a manager to change our room and after no luck, we packed our bags made reservations at a nearby hotel and checked out. You also have to dodge the drivers on golf carts they text while driving and speed thru the lots paying no attention to cars or people.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I am a timeshare owner with Westgate Towers, and I would urge anyone thinking of taking up ownership NOT to do it.
Westgate are masters of the con trick. They will constantly badger you to upgrade, add additional weeks etc, and they will not take no for an answer.
The last time I visited I ended up signing up for an additional week of ownership that would only cost $3500! This would be added to my existing ownership, and wouldn’t extend the payment period.
How wrong was that! The actual cost will be nearly £10,000, and it’s very difficult to get out of – I know I’ve been trying for 3 years!
They will constantly badger you by phone and if you don’t want to talk to them they will send out threatening letters by the bag full.
Oh and don’t believe them when they give you their names – they never exist! The resort is poor, all the amenities are miles away, – I couldn’t even get a kettle for the room for 10days! We had leaks from upstairs bathroom, a room by the lift, and most of the kit didn’t work.
Once again avoid at all costs. You’ve been warned!
Attention: Forget the positives it is lies. Avoid this place
This place is a joke. It used to be a Motel that went bankrupt and then they took it over and made it into a resort. They state there are lots of amenities here but there is really only one. (Swimming Pools) 3 and on top of that only one of them is heated.
There are no vending machines in the North tower either you have to walk all the way to the other side of the resort to even get a soda. Yes, they have more amenities if you don’t care to walk a mile to Westgate Villas. It is not a place to take your kids. PERIOD
I will state that the rooms were nice and the furnishings looked good at first sight but they are all old and broken down. Including the mattress. Their other resorts are a lot nicer and have the true amenities that are stated. If you go here stay at the Villas or Town Center.
