Awful from check in to check out
Terrible from check in to check out. We booked a deal where if we stay 3 nights and listen to their “90 minute” timeshare presentation that we would get a 4th night free.
Well, first, they only booked us for 3 nights. Nobody at the front desk knew about the deal, or how to handle it. They didn’t want to help us, just persisting that we check out a day before our flight out or pay full price for another night. We had our booking with the extra night printed for them, and after arguing with them, they finally tried to look into it. After spending 3 hours on the phone or at the front desk, we finally found a clerk who knew who to call to get that taken care of. Mind you, we had to deal with this after a terribly delayed flight, and being up over 36 hrs.
After this whole debacle, we just wanted to shower. Tub had either black mold or missing caulk around the tub and outdated mauve pink tile. Shower was tiny and we had no hot water the first night. Sink was plugged and faucet stuck. No coffee maker, so each morning we had to wait the 15 minutes for the elevator to go downstairs to buy coffee.
Day 2: we go to the “90 minute” presentation and it was 5.5 HOURS long. HIGH pressure sales, find out we were supposed to be staying in a timeshare suite (but instead got an outdated non-smoking single room when we booked a smoking). Everytime we thought we could leave, they brought in a new salesperson who would pitch to us. Not to mention how the sales people follow you when you get up, to make sure you don’t leave.
Now, after I got snippy, and insisted we were done to the 3rd salesperson, we are at the desk to validate our free night and receive our free show tickets. We tell guest services that we can only see a show on Thursday or Friday since they wasted our entire Wednesday with the presentation. Guy gives us tickets for Ka, because according to him, we could see it Friday. We find out after, that Ka does not have shows on Thursdays and Fridays.
All day and night we heard the elevators running though we were a few rooms away from them. Elevators were always closed for maintenance, which had 15-20 minute waits for the ones in service. Ate at Sid’s Cafe. Food was good, but service was slow though it was nearly empty, and the drink waitress took our order, but never served us our beverages.
Friday (day of their checkout date, because they didn’t include our free night), we had to re-check in. They tried to charge us another security deposit on the room, and charge for a local call that the front desk transferred to us from the booking department from Tuesday’s debacle.
Now, checking out: as we were walking to the front desk to check out, we had employees jumping in front of us multiple times to go through express check out. We explained that we wanted our invoice, but they we incessant on express. So no print out. Never, ever stay here.

Bait and Switch
The rooms look nothing like the published photos. My colleagues and I stayed at the Westgate in during a businessMarch 2018. We needed a smoke-free and clean hotel for one night. I reserved two rooms- both with double beds. Our first room was massive– bar, couch, with a TINY Murphy bed and TINY bathroom. Given I was sharing with a colleague, we opted to change rooms. Our second room was disgusting- the main feature being the black mould and chipped paint in the bathroom. Our third room, the concierge, was a recently upgraded “Premium Room.” This upgrade included large, questionable- stains on the couch, sheets, and furniture.
This is by far the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Having tried three rooms, including a “renovated upgrade” room, I am astounded that there aren’t more complaints. The two nice features are the complimentary buffet breakfast and the proximity to the Monorail stop.
Horrible, Horrible experience...twice now,and for the last time.
Husband and I came here, back in August 2017, and when we arrived only by an hour, a fire broke out behind the swimming pool , in one of the patio rooms, which also spread to 4 other rooms, the fire alarm DID NOT go off, we were on the 26th floor and we smelt the smoke in the room, then we could see the blazing fire from the window, needless to say we panicked and so we took the stairs down 26 long flights along with everybody else, I was having panic attacks and getting extreme anxiety with this, I asked somebody in the hall when we finally got to the bottom, oh! after walking through a disgusting underground tunnel where the homeless sleep, and where my husband tripped and fell over a large piece of wood, why? the alarm did NOT go off, and she pointed to flashing lights on the wall, saying that was the alarm??, really???! not comforting at all….,anyway we also got switched rooms next day due to a continuing leak from the bath faucet. That is my review from that time, so, due to the awful experience from this we got a compted 4 day return to the Westgate,March 2018, which we regretfully took, as this was also a bad nitemare for my daughter and I, we were on the 8th floor, next to a shared room, and in the middle of the night, my daughter wakes me up and says there are a few people outside our room, I take a look and it looks like a security guard and a maintenance person removing/repairing the lock to the room right next to us, so we are awake for that for hours, next night the person on the other side is blasting music for hours, after complaining last time, I had just had it with all of this and could not wait to get out of there, I will never ever return to this hotel or will I ever recommend it,also the room we were given was disgusting, I was scared to use the bathroom it was so grimy, we had housekeeping ONCE in
FOUR days, and that was because we had to ask for clean towels. she came at 9,30pm, so be very aware if you are ever tempted to get a room from them, you are on your own from the minute they give you the key, I will definitely spend the money and be rest assured that I will be SAFE and HAPPY at the ARIA or the BELLAGIO where we have previously stayed, I have read a few other comments on here and it seems if you come here to bet in the sportsbook…… then you will have a great time!
Westgate Las Vegas (DUMP) Resort (In their dreams)
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in from the ancient decor and smoke stench throughout the “Non-Smoking” rooms, it was nothing short of completely disgusting. The elevators were packed and took forever to get, and then they closed on you before you even got out. The rooms reeked of smoke, including the bed sheets and towels. The view was decent, but I had issues with power and had to take a shower in the dark one morning. I was at this hotel for 8 days and couldn’t wait for it to be over, it was literally hell. Tons of young athletes throughout the stay and I felt for them having to suck in all the smoke in the air. I really felt like I needed the mask I used during the “Thomas Fires”, in California. It was awful. The slot machines were closed off most of my stay, I think maybe one day they were open and working. The bar was always packed. Sid’s Cafe was a nice restaurant, food was good and Bobbie Jean the waitress is the sweetest, she made the stay at least a bit positive. Restaurants were good, but the wait to check in and check out were terrible. There were tons of Employees walking around but NONE of them could ever help you they were all part of the “RESORT/Timeshare” part. Yikes, people actually buy into this dump. I’d rather stay at Motel 6, it would be much nicer and way less smokey. Overall I would never stay there again, the colleagues I was with for a trade show all had some complaint about the hotel and service throughout it. It was worse than a 1 it should be a negative 10. Take the time to look at other hotels in the immediate area, this was so not worth any amount of money.
Typical Westgate excuses
I reserved a 2 bedroom and was given a one bedroom. They told me they didn’t understand that I wanted a 2 bedroom even though my reservation stated a 2 bedroom. We ate at Sid’s café and waited for over 40 minutes before we received our order. The waited told us he forgot our order and never came and offered us another drink. Terrible service. I am a Westgate Owner and again Westgate managed to disappoint me again. Wish I could sell my timeshare and get my money out, Please look elsewhere if you are purchasing a timeshare. Westgate is terrible. Thay promise you the moon and give you a hotdog without the bun,
Run... Do Not Walk Away From The Westgate!
In July I attended a convention in Las Vegas. The convention hotel was The Westgate. I have stayed here many times before when it was The Hilton Hotel. I always enjoyed a great stay. Things have changed.
When I first got to my room I had to call downstairs and have someone bring up a trash can and some toilet paper! Second, I was surprised that all the appliances were unplugged. The clock never worked. Third, when I got back from the all-day convention on the last evening, all my lights were on and the TV was playing. I knew immediately that someone was in or had been in my room. I called the front desk and asked them to send up a policeman. The person said she would “put in a request.”
In the meantime, I walked in the bathroom and noticed that my tub was black with sewage and had a dirty rag stuffed in it. No one had called me or even left a note on the door to alert me to the problem in my room. When the policeman came he said he could open another room so I could take shower since I could not use the one in my room. We walked down the hall and I took the shower and went back to my filthy room. The policeman said housekeeping would come up and clean the tub. When housekeeping came she was so horrified by what she saw in that tub, she called her supervisor. The housekeeping supervisor came up and was so shocked that she called her supervisor and insisted that they change my room. She refused to let her employee touch what was in that tub. They gave me the room that I had used earlier to take a shower.
After hauling all my stuff down the hall with the help of a bellman, I moved into the new room. By this time it was late, I needed to pack and I was exhausted. In my new room, the TV was not working, lamps and clocks were unplugged and the toilet was running. Again, I called downstairs to ask for an engineer. The people answering the phone laughed at me and put me on hold so long, I hung up. I called back, endured more laughing and whispering, and asked to speak to a supervisor. They said they did not know where she was. I asked them to please have her call me when she showed up. She never called.
The toilet ran loudly all night.
The next morning, I called downstairs and asked again for the manager. The day manager was a man and he came to the phone. I told him my story. He apologized and said he would send up engineering immediately. Of course, that did no matter because I was checking out in two hours.
Never did this hotel offer me a refund, free breakfast, etc. for my horrible stay. Finally, since I saw that they were not going to, I asked them to at least discount my stay. After a cold dead silence, he finally offered me one night. I went downstairs to check out an hour later. When I finally made it to the counter I gave my name and situation. The clerk was impatient and very terse. She said she knew nothing of any discount so I asked her to call the manager. She said she would but for now, I should step aside so she could help others in line. The manager finally came out with another person and she checked me out and gave me the one night refund that I asked for.
I will never stay here again under any circumstances.
Vacation at Westgate
My husband and I traded one of our ownership weeks to stay at the Westgate in Las Vegas. Carrying our luggage to check in, we were bombarded with timeshare reps wanting to give us a “welcome gift”. At least 5 people tagged us. Check-in went smoothly until the lady checking us in tried to contact the concierge gentleman, who was standing in a glass-enclosed room. The phone rang and rang and he did not pick it up. She tried several times and he just stood there not answering. On the way to the elevator we were bombarded once again about our gift it was way too much. There was only 2 elevators working. The Celtic convention was happening and the wait for an elevator was from 20 to 30 minutes. We were there for a week and the elevators were not fixed. Which made for a lot of ill-tempered people. On our last day, we tried to have breakfast, a very nice lady got our drinks and we were told Stephanie would be right with us to take our order. Well the waitress totally ignored us. She would not make eye contact with us. She served the people in the booth next to us and said she was going to lunch. We are very patient people, but this was so rude our mouths were hanging open by this time 25 minutes had passed. We got up and told the hostess we were leaving, because no one ever came to get our order. So disappointing. We had an awesome dinner at Benihana and everyone there was so nice and attentive. Too bad the rest of our stay didn’t go as well.
Run Down Timeshare Marketing Venue
This place is just subpar. So-called upgraded rooms are on par with a Red Roof Inn that’s due for a remodel. Claim to fame is that it was Elvis’ venue when it was the International Hotel & Casino.
The room furnishings appear to be the same as those in rooms as when the King was appearing in the 70s. The only upgrade was a nice flat screen TV that required a call to get a maintenance man to fix.
As for the Concierge Lounge upgrade.. Don’t waste your money. Food was just nasty and the complimentary happy hour featured whiskey that was undrinkable (and I’m not that picky). Even the bartender said it was cheap and bad).
If you’re looking for a classy Vegas hotel & casino with top shelf rooms, food, and amenities….This ain’t it.
If you’re looking for nasty rooms, a barrage of timeshare marketing pitches and elevators with gum stuck to the handrails this place is for you.
