"DON’T BOTHER TO STAY HERE ,THEY HAVE ROACHES.
A Real Nightmare
First, let me say we have owned at a Westgate since 1995. At first, these were great resorts but now they have really gone down.
My wife and son and his family stayed at the Town Center the last week of July into August.
Where do I start?
The jacuzzi tub was leaking into the room below them so couldn’t be used. The repair people came to work on it so my family left the room. When they returned the repair guys were gone but the had left the front door open for anyone to come in. Then at 1 am they came back and demanded in the room to work on it some more. My son explained everyone was asleep and asked if they could come back later. He was told if he didn’t let them in he would have to pay for any damages their leak caused. Yes, a very stern threat!
They were told they had to attend a maintenance update, otherwise known as a sales pitch, and more threats there.
In addition to these, some of the minor things were, one of the TVs didn’t work, a dishwasher would not clean the dishes, the dryer wouldn’t dry clothes, the microwave had food in it when they arrived and the hood fell and hit my wife in the head!
Oh did I mention the condoms? A box of condoms was found under the mattress. Explain those to the kids. Housekeeping had done an excellent job!
My son confronted the manager of the resort about these problems. My son is an assistant high school principal so he deals with people a lot. The manager said he would turn in a request for a free week. He also gave him some vouchers to use there on the day they were leaving which are useless.
I also contacted the Westgate corporate office and file a complaint.
We have never heard any more from them and we called but they won’t return our calls.
I have read reviews of how guests that don’t own there are treated badly.
I’m here to tell you they are very consistent with treating everyone badly. !
And Westgate please don’t post a generic apology to my review because it means nothing.
Horrible Stay Away !!!!!
I recently was booked to stay at Westgate Town Center in Orlando ( Kissimmee) and left my stay early. I have been travelling the world for over 20 years and this was the worst place I have ever been. Upon my arrival I was persuaded to sit through a presentation to buy a timeshare, then I had ice cream on the property and there was a human hair in my ice cream- they did not even offer to give my money back. This was after the bellman left my wife an 1-year-old son standing to wait for an elevator as he took the first elevator for himself.
The sheets, blanket and my son’s crib mat all had stains. I called to get them replaced. The baby pool was 60 degrees and the adult pools were 75-80 degrees or more. The shower had mould, the rooms were dirty and none of the maid staff could speak English.
We had the Do not disturb on the door and 3 different times the maid staff knocked on the door anyway and woke my son.
This was all in the first 3 days and I left. I attempted to speak to management and it was clear they did not care as they have many people staying at the resort and they are trying to sell more and more timeshares.
I asked if the employees were legal citizens and they said yes – I then asked: ” why can’t they speak any English or read DND signs?”
I attempted to speak with the manager at the front desk and all he wanted to offer me was a free breakfast – sorry not interested – a one-way ticket to a new hotel would have been the best offer so I left and checked in elsewhere.
I would have done it sooner but it was a holiday weekend in Orlando and a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom suite was hard to find. Stay away and tell your friends the same – there is a reason it is cheap!
Danielle F. "Horrible Experience"
My experience at Westgate Town Center was very unpleasant. Upon booking, a Westgate representative mentioned that I would not be disappointed because it is family friendly and there are plenty of activities for the young at heart. I will admit that the activities are sure to please, but my unit was a roach motel! My unit was infested
with tiny little bugs in the kitchen area and inside the sink. In the lock out unit where my guest occupied, she was not happy because her unit was not only filled with tiny bugs, but full of dust and the carpet was not vacuumed. Due to her allergies, she did not sleep in her bed due to the dust mites; she had to sleep on the couch.
Finally, it has been a week since I’ve left and the $50 deposit due at check- in still has not been credited to my account. I’ve made several calls to Westgate and was told that it would be 3 days until I receive my refund. When I called a week later, I was rerouted to the front desk and no one was able to provide me with any assistance. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this resort to my family. If you do stay at this resort, make sure you do a deep cleaning in the unit!!!
Do not stay in Westgate Town Center Resort!!!
Westgate Town Center
Check in: Very lengthy with 3 different explanations of what I was entitled to staying as an owner (in-laws are owners and we are using their week) I was told on the phone that owners breakfast was included and then not included. I was told there would eggs and meat, but it was mini muffins and cold cereal. I was told the amenities available to owners guests are different than owners including the splash park. Then I was told they were included, then not included, then finally included.
Was forced to sign up for a 90 minute timeshare sales meeting for a $20 refundable fee and a $50 deposit on the room. This same meeting was offered at a kiosk at Golden Corral where they would pay “me” to attend. Was offered vouchers for what should have been free if my father in-law was able to make the trip.
The room: roaches in both rooms and mold in my shower, on the granite counter tops. Terrible water pressure and a cheap shower head. Put towels out and didn’t get towels back. No one escorted us to our building as first time guests. Black mold on the grout in the shower and on tiles on the ledge #1611. Some yellow goo on my bathroom door. Westgatemaintenance crews starting work outside my window between 5am and 7am every morning of my stay with loud Spanish speaking people yelling to each other. Less than friendly people when requesting items for the room. Ice maker turned off and no ice after 9 hours in the hot sun at Disney. When the ice makers were on they produced a solid block of ice that dripped down the refrigerator onto the floor.
Staff: No one seems to know what’s going on. Called for ice because ice maker was off and was told by staff to try the supermarket. After arguing about ice being free in my room and not being my fault that the ice makers not working isn’t my fault, maintenance came up empty handed. He pointed out that there were 6 ice cubes in the ice pan and it was working I explained that we turned it on about 30 mins before not knowing we needed to do that when we checked in. On the second day of our stay I called about the maintenance and being woke up 2 days in a row and was transferred to the front desk where the phone rang 45 times with no answer. Then called back and was transferred to “security” that was rude and talked over me when I asked if this was a daily thing I wanted to be moved to a different location. They didn’t move us or offer a different, less noisy room.
Owners breakfast: Huge disappointment to find out it’s a half mile walk to a tiny pool with water aerobics going on and kids couldn’t swim. Also mini muffins, cereal, and Danish is a snack not a breakfast for 10.95 per person. Had better continental breakfasts at 2 star hotels.
Water park: after coming down to water park with resort “owners” room card in our bathing suits we find we need a special card and receipt to enter the area. Was told to go back to get our ID’s to show with the receipt to enter the water park area. The landfill smells better than the entrance to the water park. Garbage piled up 20 yards from the entrance and smelled like sewers, “literally”. Front desk said they were not aware of the smell but the staff at the entrance to the park were very “aware” of the smell.
The Internet: We brought 7 devices for 7 people. We tried to connect on some of them and found the connection was so terrible we just used our data plan. I really hope we don’t get a bill for this horrible internet connection that they charge for by device. Dial up at 3MBS is faster. I couldn’t do any business work on my laptop for the last 3 days because of this.
I tried to contact the general manager at the email below and was ignored. I was told the next day by the night manager that I would receive a phone call from the general manager, but never did.
We tried to talk to management about running power equipment before 7am three days in a row. Weed eaters, bush trimming machines, and 4 maintenance vehicles with back up alarms on them coming in and out to paint 1 door.
The manager Francisco, promised us last night that today, Friday, we would not be woken up and they would instruct their staff to be courteous. He gave us vouchers to use at the resort for dining and sent a very good cleaning crew up to our room to clean it properly. Promptly at 6:40am they started up three power washers and proceeded to use them to spray down the water park area. Being a maintenance professional it’s obvious that the staff don’t have any training on how to properly use the equipment. The same effect could have been accomplished by a garden hose. Instead they woke up all the guests in this area of the resort.
I called the front desk and asked them to turn off the power washers. They turned one off. I went to speak to them and they continued to power wash until my 3rd phone call and finally turned off a second.
Florida law has been broken and I’m filing a code enforcement complaint against them when they open at 9am.
I will not be vacationing at Westgate facilities anymore let alone “buying” one. If I took the time to read reviews instead of just going by what my in-laws described I would have seen that I’m not the only one that’s gone through everything I’ve stated.
