Many of the UK’s timeshare owners are currently tied into contracts with Westgate Resorts – one of the leading timeshare schemes in the USA. Westgate Resorts operate sites across the whole of the US including Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, Daytona Beach, Branson, Mesa, Gatlinburg, Tunica, Myrtle Beach, Park City, River Ranch and Cocoa Beach.
There has been a huge increase in complaints and timeshare release enquires in recent months from customers with Westgate Resorts. Westgate owners and guests said that timeshare ownership ws not the main motive for them cancelling their timeshare with the resort, it was due largely to high maintenance fees charged by the resorts, hard-sell tactics used by the timeshare salespeople at the presentations and the though of their heirs inheriting the liability of the westgage resort maintenance fees event after death which would be the case with timeshare agreements in-perpetuity.
"DON’T BOTHER TO STAY HERE ,THEY HAVE ROACHES.
This facility is a Timeshare Property in which We purchased a 1-week unit to stay every year, but we deeded it back due to problems like Dirty underwear, and a woman’s hairpiece. But my family and friends have purchased and stayed @ Westgate Town Center, The Villas, and The Towers for the pass 5-8 years and have had small problems but Nothing like what we experienced up until Now( 2016).We have stayed in several different buildings and this particular building #5000 is where we stayed. Most of the units had ” Old T.Vs, old fixtures, and some old Appliances mixed with fairly new items. But The Biggest Surprise is Westgate has”ROACHES”.I have never experienced this Problem in the past. After several complaints, they finally moved us.I thought Timeshare properties were obligated to fully Refurbished and “Clean”every 5 yrs.But Westgate has NOT done so. This was a Horrible experience. “BeWare”! ! ! ! !

A Real Nightmare
First, let me say we have owned at a Westgate since 1995. At first, these were great resorts but now they have really gone down.
My wife and son and his family stayed at the Town Center the last week of July into August.
Where do I start?
The jacuzzi tub was leaking into the room below them so couldn’t be used. The repair people came to work on it so my family left the room. When they returned the repair guys were gone but the had left the front door open for anyone to come in. Then at 1 am they came back and demanded in the room to work on it some more. My son explained everyone was asleep and asked if they could come back later. He was told if he didn’t let them in he would have to pay for any damages their leak caused. Yes, a very stern threat!
They were told they had to attend a maintenance update, otherwise known as a sales pitch, and more threats there.
In addition to these, some of the minor things were, one of the TVs didn’t work, a dishwasher would not clean the dishes, the dryer wouldn’t dry clothes, the microwave had food in it when they arrived and the hood fell and hit my wife in the head!
Oh did I mention the condoms? A box of condoms was found under the mattress. Explain those to the kids. Housekeeping had done an excellent job!
My son confronted the manager of the resort about these problems. My son is an assistant high school principal so he deals with people a lot. The manager said he would turn in a request for a free week. He also gave him some vouchers to use there on the day they were leaving which are useless.
I also contacted the Westgate corporate office and file a complaint.
We have never heard any more from them and we called but they won’t return our calls.
I have read reviews of how guests that don’t own there are treated badly.
I’m here to tell you they are very consistent with treating everyone badly. !
And Westgate please don’t post a generic apology to my review because it means nothing.
Horrible Stay Away !!!!!
I recently was booked to stay at Westgate Town Center in Orlando ( Kissimmee) and left my stay early. I have been travelling the world for over 20 years and this was the worst place I have ever been. Upon my arrival I was persuaded to sit through a presentation to buy a timeshare, then I had ice cream on the property and there was a human hair in my ice cream- they did not even offer to give my money back. This was after the bellman left my wife an 1-year-old son standing to wait for an elevator as he took the first elevator for himself.
The sheets, blanket and my son’s crib mat all had stains. I called to get them replaced. The baby pool was 60 degrees and the adult pools were 75-80 degrees or more. The shower had mould, the rooms were dirty and none of the maid staff could speak English.
We had the Do not disturb on the door and 3 different times the maid staff knocked on the door anyway and woke my son.
This was all in the first 3 days and I left. I attempted to speak to management and it was clear they did not care as they have many people staying at the resort and they are trying to sell more and more timeshares.
I asked if the employees were legal citizens and they said yes – I then asked: ” why can’t they speak any English or read DND signs?”
I attempted to speak with the manager at the front desk and all he wanted to offer me was a free breakfast – sorry not interested – a one-way ticket to a new hotel would have been the best offer so I left and checked in elsewhere.
I would have done it sooner but it was a holiday weekend in Orlando and a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom suite was hard to find. Stay away and tell your friends the same – there is a reason it is cheap!
Danielle F. "Horrible Experience"
My experience at Westgate Town Center was very unpleasant.
Upon booking, a Westgate representative mentioned that I would not be disappointed because it is family friendly and there are plenty of activities for the young at heart.
I will admit that the activities are sure to please, but my unit was a roach motel! My unit was infested with tiny little bugs in the kitchen area and inside the sink. In the lock out unit where my guest occupied, she was not happy because her unit was not only filled with tiny bugs, but full of dust and the carpet was not vacuumed.
Due to her allergies, she did not sleep in her bed due to the dust mites; she had to sleep on the couch.
Finally, it has been a week since I’ve left and the $50 deposit due at check- in still has not been credited to my account.
I’ve made several calls to Westgate and was told that it would be 3 days until I receive my refund.
When I called a week later, I was rerouted to the front desk and no one was able to provide me with any assistance.
Unfortunately, I will not recommend this resort to my family.
If you do stay at this resort, make sure you do a deep cleaning in the unit!!!
Do not stay in Westgate Town Center Resort!!!
Check in: Very lengthy with 3 different explanations of what I was entitled to staying as an owner (in-laws are owners and we are using their week)
I was told on the phone that owners breakfast was included and then not included.
I was told there would eggs and meat, but it was mini muffins and cold cereal.
I was told the amenities available to owners guests are different than owners including the splash park. Then I was told they were included, then not included, then finally included.
Was forced to sign up for a 90 minute timeshare sales meeting for a $20 refundable fee and a $50 deposit on the room.
