Many of the UK’s timeshare owners are currently tied into contracts with Westgate Resorts – one of the leading timeshare schemes in the USA. Westgate Resorts operate sites across the whole of the US including Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, Daytona Beach, Branson, Mesa, Gatlinburg, Tunica, Myrtle Beach, Park City, River Ranch and Cocoa Beach.
There has been a huge increase in complaints and timeshare release enquires in recent months from customers with Westgate Resorts.
Many concerns centre on the following factors:
If the contract with Westgate Resorts was sold “in perpetuity” or you were pressured into a contract with little knowledge of the implications then you can claim against the resort or a timeshare release on the grounds of mis-selling.
Worst Resort Ever
We are owners with Westgate in Orlando. We have stayed in three different timeshares in Orlando. The Painted Mountain resort is a 2 star at best and is totally opposite of what we expected being a Westgate resort.
When we arrived, we were told the pool and hot tub was under repair and would be closed for the entire week we were planning to stay.
We had a 1 bedroom suite.
All the rooms were dirty, especially the floors. The majority of the towels were worn. The linen on the bed was old and dirty until we asked to be changed on Wednesday when the cleaners were to come in. The furniture is old and dirty.
We have stayed in many resorts and this was a total disappointment.

Westgate Painted Desert, Needs a Facelift
Stayed in 2 bedroom unit, #122. Unit needs a facelift, i.e., cheap furniture, old kitchen cabinets, rusted washer machine, vinyl floors, old blender in the kitchen, small TV with bad resolution.
The safe in the room wasn’t even bolted down to the floor.
Beds were Ok, but I don’t think I’d say there again.
It was disappointing as we are Westgate timeshare owners as well.
Better Cleaning is Needed
I stayed at Westgate Painted Mountain 4 nights. I didn’t check in until around 7:30 p.m. and when I threw back the covers of the bed at 9:45 p.m., the sheets were dirty.
Not just stained but spots, wrinkles, hair, and it was obvious they had not been changed. I immediately called the front desk and was told there was not a similar room available and housekeeping was closed so they could not come and change the sheets.
I said they could not expect me to stay in this room in its current state. The front desk clerk stated she would check and see what was available and call me back. I was called back within a few minutes and told I could have an upgraded room at no charge.
I had to repack my things and move to a new room by myself at 10 p.m. My original room was in a quiet location and the new room was next to a busy highway and there was constant traffic noise.
The sheets were clean in the new room but in looking around the 1 bedroom suite, it was obvious cleanliness was not a priority. The walls were paper thin and I could hear everything the guests in the next room did from conversations to snoring to bathroom activity.
I would recommend staying elsewhere.
Wow, that was a mistake
Had to stay in Mesa so tried to find a place that had pretty good reviews and was not the most expensive place to stay. Tried Westgate Painted Mountain and was greatly disappointed.
The room was incredibly noisy, with normal conversation easily overheard from the room next door via the joined door.
Heard the occupants upstairs walking around, traffic outside, and the airport nearby.
Not what I was hoping for.
Got a customer survey after our stay and all it seemed concerned about was the appearance and attitude of the front desk clerk.
What they really need is lots of insulation and some soundproof doors.
Resort in Need of Major Updating
We booked two nights at this resort because we had two days between two resort reservations. We own a timeshare at a Westgate property and were totally unprepared for the run down condition of this resort.
We had a broken air conditioning that would run only at 79 or 65. We discovered the problem after 9 P.M. and no maintenance man was available until 9:00 A.M. the next morning.
Security guard tried for an hour to help but with no success.
The overall condition of the unit was very poor…cracked privacy blocks over tub, hairdryer torn off wall mount and thrown under cabinet, nice tall wardrobe with unusable clothing rod due to no movable hangers, closet obstructed and hard to access due to nightstand placement, laminate peeling off cabinets, first key cards didn’t work, carpet shredding and stained, ceramic tile with numerous paint spills not removed, overall décor very dated and unattractive, sofa cushions mismatched.
Manager presented herself in very unprofessional stained attire. We were very disappointed.
Very disappointing has a timeshare owner of Westgate
I am currently a Westgate owner and very disappointed in our stay at Painted Mountain Golf Resort.
When we first checked in staff wanted to put us the furthest room from the pool. They gave us a different room closer but didn’t warn us about the noise level from the highway.
Very loud at night sleeping and had to go buy a fan for background noise. When we opened the suite door the first time a rotten egg smell in the 2nd bedroom and had to open up the door to air out and put a cloth in the sink that smells and informed maintenance.
The refrigerator does not keep anything cold so use a cooler with ice for pop and milk.
The main bathroom doesn’t drain very well and front door sticks and need to give it a hard push to get in. Then I needed to add extra days since I didn’t want to move all the stuff to another hotel and as an owner you would think I would get better rates than someone off the streets which I guess being an owner nowadays means nothing.
There are a few positives I do like the pool area and ice machines work great since we use ice in the cooler. Beds are comfortable and washer and dryer is a plus. We have been staying here for nine years and they need to start putting money in this resort because it really is showing the wear. I think next year we will have to look for a new resort since I don’t get any discount as an owner.
We are staying here another week just due to the convenience of not having to move with two children.
