A Timeshare Hustle, Nice Pool & People
Wife and I bought a trip here via a charity event. Described as a one bedroom suite with free breakfast.
Note: as I am writing this, we currently have a booked-but-vacant room at Oyster Bay because, after 3 days staying there, we left the place for another. So we’re on vacation with two hotel rooms booked.
Long story short, when we began working with the guy who donated the trip we could tell something wasn’t right. Our concerns were validated upon arrival as we come to find that we couldn’t upgrade our room (overlooking a parking lot) because it was a timeshare unit. There are superior rooms available online and we made it clear we would be more than happy to pay the difference; they weren’t interested.
They were, however, very interested in scheduling “meetings” to pitch you a timeshare. This is how you got your “free breakfast” (and other resort credits). Luckily we saw this coming and ditched their meetings.
Other things to note…
Pros:
Other than the “timeshare pitching”, the people were extremely accommodating.
The pool and pool bar area is nice.
A lot of the other guest know each other and are welcoming.
Cons:
Our room needed several repairs done and our water pressure was so low that my wife couldn’t shave her legs.
You’re in the middle of nowhere on this island. Hardly anything is currently open around it. If you’ve had a few drinks (or plan it) you’ll have to cough up $30+ per way cab fare if you want to go to more of the lively areas.
The beach is laughable. Tiny with seaweed.
Two lessons here:
1) Don’t buy a trip at a charity event unless specific details are provided.
2) Don’t stay here unless you want to get pitched
Fill out your details below and we’ll get straight back.

Quiet but be prepared to drive
Quiet & relaxing. Only 2 restaurants walkable (Infinity in resort & Big Fish). Slow staff at front desk & concierge ladies didn’t seem helpful, except for Clarlice. Dave at bar was awesome awesome. We didn’t know this was timeshare resort & didn’t care for the push to tour it. We declined but still felt it was promoted too much. Dawn beach is small & rough surf so we went to other beaches we liked more
Time Share Exchange
My wife and I were successful in obtaining a reservation for back to back weeks in January 2020.
We were extremely surprised that the resort recovered from prior hurricane damage. Our one bedroom unit was more than adequate and was centrally located in the resort on the first floor. W were within a short walk to Dawn Beach and the Infinity Pool. Daily room service was above and beyond our expectations as well as the outdoor grills spaced throughout the resort . We were a little disappointed with the service in the Infinity Restaurant which we attributed to lack of staff. We would definitely come back to this resort
Paradise
This was our third visit to oyster bay beach resort since 2012 and it truly feels like our home away from home. We bought a timeshare during our last visit (2016) and could not wait to come back to the island after Hurricane Irma. This time around we had an extra addition to our family, a 6-month baby girl and I have to say that the staff at OBBR (and the rest of the island) was very accommodating to us.
We arrived 2/8 late in the afternoon and check-in was a quick, smooth process with champagne and a friendly welcome from Edmund. We were so happy to find out that they had placed us in an ocean view room on the first floor which walked out to the beautiful zero entry infinity pool. The view is just priceless.
What we love about OBBR is the location and the friendly staff – it’s pretty secluded in oyster bay with amazing views of the Atlantic, st barts, the marina, and dawn beach. But it’s not far from anything at all… there are restaurants nearby or it’s just a 20 minute drive to orient, grand case and Simpson bay. The staff has remained the same over the years and that is really a testament to how special this place is.
I could go on and on but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else on this island! Rent a car, explore the island and then come home to OBBR at the end of the day :)
Little Gem
My wife and I recently returned from a week’s stay at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort. We are in our 50s and were looking to get away and just relax! I loved this trip. This resort is a little gem! We rented a car ahead of time for the week.
We took a shuttle provided by the car rental agency from the airport to their office which was 5 minutes or less outside of the airport. Our Credit Card company has benefits that covered the insurance so no need to purchase anything additional.
The driving on the island is easy, the same side of the road as in the US. We made the trip from the car rental to the resort in about 20-30 minutes. Check-in was easy. The resort promotes a Timeshare seminar but we told them we were not interested and we never heard another thing about it all week. The resort is snuggled in among another resort and made up of a series of building complexes that have a series of rooms on 3 floors.
The grounds are kept tidy and the staff is very nice. Everything is within close walking distance to the lobby, bar and restaurant area and the pool. The pool is great, perched right on the water with plenty of chairs and a spectacular view across the water. If the beach is more your style, there is access to a nice sized beach off the side of the resort. Plenty of umbrellas and a small bar that served a limited drink menu, and I think you could order food as well although we never did.
We stayed in a lower priced room which was modest but had everything we needed. We had a small kitchen and refrigerator which was great, and our balcony had a limited view of the marina in the back bay.
We visited a local supermarket so we made breakfast and lunch in our room most days and then went out to dinner each night. We only ate on resort once, the other times we ventured off for some great local flavour.
Two cute restaurants were just a 5 minute or less car ride away on the French side. Other nights were took the car up to Grand Case or into Simpson Bay for meals there. Grand Case is a must!!!!! When we visited, the average age of the resort guests were older, in their 60s and 70s but there were a few younger folks, and a few families with small kids here and there.
The point of this is that it was a very chill atmosphere, not the rowdy drunk-by-3:00-in the afternoon crowd, you get when you go to all-inclusive. We have been to many all-inclusive and this was such a nice refreshing, relaxing change
Wonderful Timeshare Resort
Stayed at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort for the third time.
We just love their Atlantic View with an infinity pool.
Unfortunately, it was a very windy few days with intermittent rain. Oyster Bay Beach Resort can’t be beaten for wonderful, friendly, welcoming staff.
We received a bottle of wine upon arrival and an appointment sheet for a free breakfast or lunch (very intensive selling presentation). They have lots of parties for guests which is also nice.
I highly recommend this resort.
It is updated, very clean, cheery and the people that stay here seem very happy. We’ll be back!
