Owners of Ona El Marques timeshares often find themselves trapped in endless contracts with rapidly increasing maintenance fees which ultimately stems from a mis-sold timeshare contract. Over recent years there have been a number of ground-breaking legal rulings regarding mis-sold timeshares by many timeshare groups and resorts which have resulted in refunds and compensation.
Many resort owners of El Marqués Resort timeshare contracts are entitled to, or have already made claims. Timeshare complaints and claims have been recevied because of resort owners who complaint about high increases in fees including maintenance fees, aggressive fee collection procedures enforced by the timeshare scheme and contracts committing owners to paying fees “in perpetuity”
ITS A SHAME CHILDREN WERE MADE TO FEEL UNWELCOME
I have been coming off and on to this resort for over 10 years and own a place here so it is with great regret that i am writing this (my review last year was so different). We came for a 2-week holiday. We know the resort is a bit reserved but this year considering we came in the children’s half term it was made quite clear that children where not welcome at the pool and it is not just me saying this but when we spoke to 4 other families and they all said the same thing, and after the notice that the new resort manager put up all around the pool which made my wife cry and caused a horrible atmosphere round the pool.
We decided to go to a pool in Los Gigantis called the Oasis which was recommended to us by one of the other family’s we spoke to and it has an infinity pool overlooking the see also a slide and a children’s pool with a play area in it. We spent are second week at this pool and it was brilliant with a very friendly atmosphere.
We also went to the BBQ evening at El Marques and it was the worst meal we had in 2 weeks It’s a shame because the refurb looks great, there are loads of lovely restaurants all around and I would suggest you use them.
It is such a shame i am writing this as the apartments are great and now they are getting refurbished they are even better.
I go on holiday to have fun with my children and think there is nothing better than seeing children enjoying themselves and if people think that is wrong then maybe they should not go away in the children’s holidays and not go to a family resort.
WE LOVE TENERIFE AS IT IS ALWAYS BEEN SO FAMILY FRIENDLY AND IT’S A SHAME EL MARQUES HAS CHANGED.

Miserable Time
We arrived on the 25/06/18 My husband , my 95 year old mum and myself for a 6 day holiday before my husband had to go back to work . We live in Gran Canaria.
We were given a two bedroom apartment on a high floor, we had to walk to the back of the complex, go up a very large ramp, do two different lifts and eventually we got to our apartment, which looked fine but we were exhausted and it was so ridiculous for my mum.
We had emailed several times in advance to doublé check the property would be ok for us , with my mums mobility issues etc.
My husband went to reception and explained and we were given an apartment, it was at the bottom of the road, at the back of the complex, you had to go upstairs, down a small hill or more stairs and there was the new apartment. It smelt very musty, it had a fridge that was wonkey, but the view was amazing.
We went back to reception, and spoke to the male receptionist who was very rude and wouldn’t listen. I asked him if we stayed for one night , i would like the rest of my money back and then we could move to some where more suitable.
He said he would let us know the next day.
The next day we were told that we had to pay for however many nights we stayed plus pay for an extra night!
After two days we left after finding accommodation at a different resort called Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club in Golf del Sur.
Wonderful and fabulous service from start to finish.
Please also be aware reception, the pool and restaurant at Ona El Marques is across the road. there is no lift down to the pool, and only stairs!
Very dissapointed from start to finish.
Disgusted
Done 11 days at this location, and spent lots of money around the pool and at the bar as was self catering! Not kid friendly what so ever have to enter the pool by the ladder as jumping in is not aloud. Unless you don’t make a splash!!!!! Fantastic destination for the over 80’s.
Done 11 days here meet some nice people who persuaded us to stay a further 5 days, tried to extend our stay at these apartment to be told no availability so tried el marques palace next door that had availability……..result as meant the kids that our kids had meet could still play together as this was one of the main reason for us extending our holiday.
However, the next day to be kicked out of the pool with the manager surrounding my wife and kids sun beds which was embarrassing and intimidating for her and damn right bullying. And was then told that we could use the restaurant and bar area to spend money but kids were not allowed to use the pool or the facilities as we were not longer staying here!!!!! Is this how you treat a family who have spent 11 days and thousands of pounds in this complex ☹️☹️☹️#unhappy family
A great place to stay if its not too hot!
Never been to Tenerife before so the 2 week vacation was a pleasant surprise. The El Marques at Porto Santiago was great for us as it was off the beaten track and the village of Los Gigantes was an easy walk down hill – but you need to be fit to come back up.
Only downside was that the apartments have no air conditioning just electric fans which only serve to blow hot air around the room. If it is red hot weather which it was while we were there you really need somewhere cool to sleep at night and El Marques is anything but. Asking for extra fans was a toil also, the lady at reception said she didn’t have any as she sat next to her portable air conditioning unit! – Happy Days
An area for the very able-bodied!
We have been to Tenerife many times, not for anything that it has but rather for the sun.
This is a recent acquisition by our timeshare company, but I’m unsure as to the details of that.
This is a decent resort but the area is so very hilly, I couldn’t recommend it to anyone but the fittest! Sorry, we won’t be back, ever!
No natural light in apartment
We did a timeshare exchange into this resort. We were given apartment 27.
This was on ground level at the rear of the main block due to the high wall at the rear of the property we were not able to see the sky from any room in the apartment.
Not suitable for people with walking difficulties as both bedrooms upstairs.
The apartment was very clean.
Swimming pool area was quite small for the number of apartments
