Do not leave valuables in your room!
We have been long time customers at the Marriott Vacation Club properties however, during our stay in August 2018, we left our valuables (inclusive of a three figure sum of cash) locked in a safe within our unit at Harbour Lake. The safe was “secured” using a 4 digit passcode we created.
We received housekeeping service during the day and upon our re-entry to the safe that evening, our cash was missing. Our other valuables remained however so we reported the missing cash to the appropriate department.
We were advised that the issue was escalated to management and that an investigation would be done. We subsequently checked out of the resort and after a few days were notified that after completion of their investigation they had no findings to be reported regarding what happened to our cash.
I find this unacceptable and therefore our family has made the decision that we will not return to Harbour Lake for vacation following this incident as it is proven our valuables would be unsafe.
Tragic! Please beware
I was there in July and witnessed a small girl drown. She died at the hospital later that day. It was a tragic event – and while the Hotel clearly stated that everyone swims at their own risk, the Hotel response to the event was horrific.
The girl was pulled from pool area, nobody on hotel staff could locate the AED machine, kids everywhere were crying and the area was not vacated, guests calling 911 from pool phone were required to provide an address and there was no staff nearby, and when medics arrived it was guests who ushered them back.
I will never, ever got my entire life forget this day.
And neither will my 8 year old daughter who bore witness.
Very nice hotel and family friendly. Great location to all theme parks. However, be aware that this is a time share.
I am an elite Marriott member and used to all the perks from Marriott but they said they don’t honour any of those as they are the “vacation club” instead of the regular Marriott.
So basically they are a timeshare property so be aware if you don’t like timeshare.
Check out time is 10:00 AM because they said it is a timeshare and the property is owed by the owners.
I got a call from the front desk basically to “kick us out” at 10:00 AM.
Overall it is a nice family friendly hotel.
Breakfast not included. For this price, I expected more from it.
Terrible , ugly room!
Terrible Harbor lake vacation club, room # 3031 in villa 30 is terrible, all furniture very old and ugly. The picture of rooms on website absolutely different than actual real rooms. They’re lying!
by showing that beautiful rooms pictures, but in a reality a rooms are ugly.
On my way to the room it’s was a lot of trash bags on the floor by the neighbour’s rooms. If this company in progress of renovation, then they have to inform customers and not destroyed Marriott vacation club reputation.
This is wrong!
Front desk representatives were rude and not helpful.
I will never recommend Harbour lake vacation club to my friends because I do not want them to be discussed and terribly disappointed.
Overrated! Overrated!
The rooms are great! That is the selling point. This resort does not live up to the Marriott quality I am used to being a Gold member.
First within the workout room there were 3 out of 5 treadmills broken.
While on vacation they try and sell you an additional week. No one likes to be hounded by a sales person at any time.
The coffee vending machine (the only one) was out of order for 5 days despite my telling them several times.
They are constantly shuffling “potential” new owners around while you are trying to relax. I was walking down a side walk a few feet from the end and a sales person driving in a golf cark showing potential customers made me get off the path so that he could continue on with his “presentation”
There was a lack of communication when it came to starting various childrens activities. One person would tell us start and finish times different from another.
The additional charges for various amenities are something you need to consider before buying a timeshare. Housekeeping, LD phone charges, newspapers, coffee are not included as with a standard Marriott hotel.
I think housekeeping was 20 or 30 dollars per day depending upon the level of service desired.
Is a timeshare a good deal? I am not so sure!
