We have visited this location for decades. The number one thing that separated this resort from anywhere else on Hilton Head was “Pool bar” Jim. The Marriott has chosen to no longer use his services. Jim’s friendly service and outstanding drinks made this place what it was. Pool Bar Jim’s will succeed somewhere else, and my family will never again visit this location.
They’ve lost this customer!
To further the point that this property is on the decline- they have now decided to dismiss one of their properties greatest draws. Pool Bar Jim’s has been a staple as one of my favourite places to visit and share with my out-of-town guests.
Jim is what makes this spot so very special and recently they’ve decided to suspend him.
As a community, we are all outraged over this decision and truly disappointed.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of enjoying one of Jim’s finely tuned libations and enjoyed a conversation will attest to his integrity and unparalleled customer service.

The internet connection in our villa has been very weak, very slow browsing and no email from our server. Going to Starbucks 2 miles down the road has been the only solution – management has not.
We are very disappointed and are leaving 2 days early since we are not enjoying what we came for!
In fact, the whole plant is showing signs of wear and tear, sleazy floor covering in the elevators -in starfish at least.
If you plan to stay off Grand Ocean during the day you may be ok. And don’t need internet for business. Our last time here.
Oh and how many times have we heard ‘the manager is on vacation this week’ – sounds a very un-Marriott excuse. But perhaps this poor service is a reflection of Board policies – don’t know because the owners meeting was cancelled because of manager absence. What???
Finally, the one star is for the comfort of the beds – they were good,
