Laugharne Estate Timeshare Resort

We have stayed at Laugharne estate lots over the years. It is in a fantastic location with fabulous views. There is a lovely park for the children and just a short walk away from the pretty village.

However, the views and location are simply not enough to keep returning to this park. It is so sad that the planned upgrades are taking so long. The accommodation is dated, tired and simply ugly. It doesn’t feel like a relaxing holiday home and is certainly not comparable with what you would get on other sites. The lodge was small and dark with no outdoor space. There were a lot of steps up to your parking space. The carpet was old and worn and not nice for children playing on it. It felt like going back in time.

I hope the refurbishment goes ahead quickly and they focus on facilities for all rather than a few flashy lodges. With upgraded lodges, a decent pool and a restaurant/bar this park could be fantastic. I would recommend the park but would suggest keeping an eye for when these upgrades finally happen.

We are long-standing Seasons members and we have been to Laugharne a number if times previous to this. We were invited for a short break to view the reconstruction being carried out on the estate and the instructed on a new marketing scheme.

Our first impressions were not very satisfactory, having been allocated lodge 24A which as well as being one of the smallest lodges, was next to the construction site with construction vehicles rumbling around. It was not very clean, the carpet was stained and having travelled over 6 hours to get to Laugharne and arriving late evening, was only just tolerable.

The luxury of one of the new lodges we were shown only emphasised the poor deal we had been given. We were aware of what was going on at Laugharne, but if nothing better than this was available , we should not have been made the offer.

It is a very poor and sad reflection on Seasons and their attitude to members, especially when they are trying to showcase the new developments.
The staff however, as usual, were friendly and helpful but until the site is completed, I doubt if we would return.

We were very disappointed that we were given and expected to be happy with the lodge, its condition and the immediate surroundings. A poor service from Seasons

When we arrived we were charged for utilities £30, we were told if we attended a Customer Relations Meeting, this would be refunded, in reality, a Timeshare meeting. The accommodation was a bit tired, but generally well maintained.

Nothing really to do on site, but the Village as a Couple of Pubs, A Restaurant, Fish and Chip Shop and a Spar, we parked the car by the games room and it was a five minute walk.

We were out every day, Tenby is nice, and if you need to Shop, Carmarthen as most of the main stores, enjoyed Picton Gardens and Castle, and St David’s Cathedral was a good day out stopping at Haverfordwest On the way back.

Can recommend The Cove Inn in Tenby, the Sunday Lunch was excellent, and we ate there on another occasion also very good.

The scenery is spectacular and the beaches are great, Pendine Beach is great. If your not planning getting out and about, then I’d stop at home, because Laugharne Estate as little to entertain you apart from the spectacular views of the Taf Estuary. If you are using Laugharne as a base the accommodation is adequate.

Stayed 6 nights, the accommodation is a chalet style, old but comfortable. No real facilities on site, be prepared to walk or drive into the village where there is a small spar shop, fish and chip shop, pub (which doesn’t serve food ) and two small restaurants.

Games room and gym are small and need updating, the pool was not open and we were told it hadn’t been open for a while.

Staff were friendly and helpful, the views are great with plenty of good walks.

Having booked a week after exchanging timeshare points we ended up in a wooden hut left over from 1981 – I don’t think it’s been touched since.

Please, if you are responsible and caring parents DO NOT bring your children here to play on the soiled carpets.

Don’t fall for the glossy photos and glamour that attracted us – those photos are of renovated properties that appear to be either for sale or exclusively for Seasons timeshare holders.

We found what I would consider to be hazards and risks that included hanging cables from roman blinds, hanging cables from telephone wires stapled to the wall, black mould in the bathroom from 1977 that harbours God knows what and to top it off we found a discarded pill ( Morphine family of drugs ) left from a previous visit under our child’s bed – imagine what this would do if a toddler ingested it.

I had no indication the fire alarms were working as there was no visible light and they didn’t go off when we heated up the oven and a thick black plume of smoke filled the room and an acidic stench.

Some items in the wood hut were PAT tested for electrical safety in 2016, two years out of date so these were unplugged and stored safely by us and returned when we departed early.

To lighten the mood after a six hour trip we had a toilet that would not flush and had to stick our bare hand into the mouldy, filthy decaying water in the cistern to manually flush the toilet until ‘ housekeeping ‘ came to fix it sometime the next day. This practice greatly disturbed the spiders living there.

We found the whole site is very eerie, creepy and we had experienced strange things happening at night with unearthly sounds, moving shadows and figures moving outside.

At 2am one evening I was woken up by someone shining bright torch light into our window.

We had to tape towels over the mirrored sliding doors as our kids were seeing things and hearing noises and were also awoken at night with scratching on the outside wooden cladding.

We never highlighted this to reception due to them not taking this seriously or with any interest.

Security is lax with no visible CCTV and a tiny door lock on the door.

We did highlight all these issues and the staff offered us a new wood hut but this in our view was worse.

I can only describe the smell in there as Formaldehyde which as you know is used to preserve the deceased.

For the trouble of complaining, we got a ‘ we must take this up with housekeeping ‘ from the pleasant but apathetic reception lady and an upfront ‘ utility ‘ charge we had to pay.

I used to work in prison cells and the standard was higher and safer.

Think twice.

If I had wanted a weeks holiday in the middle of a building site with third-rate accommodation, no facilities except a dank and damp games room then I would have been happy here. The staff were only interested in selling timeshare. It was awful.

The views on the other hand, were amazing.
