Beautiful Resort
We exchanged our timeshare in Scotland for a week in January 2018 at La Quinta at La Manga, a beautiful resort in the municipality of Cartagena, Spain. When we booked, we understood that this is the low-season and that the weather would be cool.
For the most part, we were pleasantly surprised and although the temperatures at night dipped to between 7 and 10 degrees celcius, most days the temperatures rose to the mid to high teens and even the low 20’s. The resort is massive with many amenities; however, the outdoor pool and other many other activities were closed due to the season. There are many restaurants, a world class health club/fitness centre/spa and olympic size pool, but we did not try any so cannot offer advice on the subject.
La Manga Club is spread over a large area and includes many types of housing options including timeshares; single family homes; apartments, etc. We stayed in a 3 bedroom house with spectacular views of the mountain and partial ocean views. It is very hilly and there are loads of stairs, so anyone with a handicap might find it challenging.
The house includes most of the amenties of home with all of the dishes/cutlery, bedding and appliances that one needs. There is a dishwasher and a washing machine, but no dryer. We did laundry and used the dryer rack that was supplied to dry the clothes on the balcony.
The one negative that I would like to stress is the electricty charges.
We and our guests (4 adults in total) had the unit from late Saturday to the following Saturday with 2 1/2 of those days in Barcelona and our electricty costs were 69.78 Euros or approximately $107.00 CDN. Now, we know that electricity is expensive in Europe; however, we did not use the dishwasher and only turned the heat on while in the house and at night when the temperatures dipped.
The cost in our opinion is exorbitant and anyone visiting this resort needs to be aware in advance of booking. It is a shame that La Quinta at La Manga Club gouges guests with these inflated electricity costs; however, lesson learned…
On the plus side, one of our guests had an abcessed tooth and was able to see a doctor on site almost immediately. She was able to get a prescription for medication and was thankful for being able to continue on our journey without suffering and spoiling her holiday.
The cost to see the doctor was 70 Euros, well worth the price.
Fantastic
This timeshare is so good we have purchased another week. Can’t get enough of it.
Fantastic location, fantastic apartments even though they are 30 years old.
The staff are the best.
Great for relaxing or for the energetic golfers and tennis players.

Another great week
Another great week at our timeshare
As always, a fantastic well-appointed villa, excellent re-vamped La Solana restaurant with good choices of food. However, lots of new waiting staff who need to get up-to-speed PDQ!!!
Fabulous pool for families and terraces for relaxing – what is there not to like! Will be returning again later in the year.
There is a but...
A great week at our timeshare but…
La Quinta Club has undergone a major refurbishment of their La Solana Restaurant, but they need to concentrate on the Staff and Service to make it succeed.
This is a wonderful facility but this year we found the service and quality of bar/restaurant staff of a poor standard.
They would argue that what they had served was correct, when it was clearly wrong and had to be shown the menu to convince them, then they charged for more than what we had.
