Don’t waste your money !
We have had Silverleaf for 12 years and we have regretted it!
We were young when we got suckered into this timeshare business and have learned our lesson since.
We tried selling years before but it’s difficult.
We have now transferred our timeshare to a luxury international timeshare and are having a more pleasant experience.
In any case, don’t get a Silverleaf timeshare! For the money you pay, accommodations are mediocre. Like in Holly Lake Resort. Cabins haven’t been updated since who knows when.
There is no garbage disposal even in the kitchen sinks.
The bathtub has a hand-held shower device so if you wanted to take a standing shower, you are going to have to experience the inconvenience of that. Too bad for people who are tall, my family and I are short, so not too awful for us.
Doorknobs were not locking to bathroom and rooms.
Activity centre was small and with a lot of people in there, I kind of felt suffocated.
Pretty location and peaceful, but better off to just visit when you want to than go into a Silverleaf timeshare!
Yucky
Great area of Texas. Nice grounds. Saw several deer the first day here. Immediately upon entry the condo smelled very bad. It was old dirty and drab. Stayed in number 37 on the end it would have been a nice location except…. I went to take my shoes off and there was a toenail on the floor. Disgusting !!! Mould in both bathrooms.
Would get one star except for the friendly staff and the nice activity center
Not what I expected
Not what I expected at all. Cabins were nice, but every day I would see centipedes walking across the floor. They were everywhere. Stayed a week and was ready to get back home. The pools were always crowded. Had a good time, but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Completely alone out here..
When someone said you’re off the grid, they weren’t kidding. No cell phone service and very limited internet at the activity center because tons of other people are trying to access it also. The unit itself was OK but very old. I didn’t like the one room that has the toilet, sink and tub with no door to separate it from the bedroom. One of the pools was closed because it was dirty I was told. The other pool was pretty good. It definitely is too remote for me. I had to check out early and go into Dallas to finish my vacation. I will not ever go back here..
Cheap
A gimmicky place to go where you will be badgered by timeshare salespeople. This is a well oiled low-end timeshare facility. I want a vacation, not a weekend in the hood by the lake. People should feel their dollars are worth some real capital investments rather than this low-end scam.
This is a beautiful part of East Texas
Ruined by the management and security.
Roads are poorly maintained, except where the wealthiest live. Grounds are often neglected, except for the golf course which gets all of the attention. Residents are at best treated as the personal atm’s of management. The renewed revenue generation program initiated recently has the security issuing citations for imagined infractions. When it is proved that the officers were in the wrong, the committee that reviews such matters states that despite all of the evidence of error and wrongdoing, they have to support the officers. The review, therefore, is merely a farce. This is putting all guests and residents at risk.
Hopefully Holiday Inn Resorts can exert some influence on HLR to correct these problems, but I would not hold my breath. Integrity and honesty are not a part of the vocabulary of HLR management.
Woodsy Retreat
As others have said, this is not a fancy location. The gated community is well maintained, the staff helpful and friendly, and there is plenty within the resort to keep you entertained if you like board games, shuffle board, ping pong, mini golf, swimming, etc. Although it says it’s on a lake, that means there’s a lake on the property, about a mile from the condos & cabins. Same distance to exercise center. Units are older, but clean. We did have a roach in ours, but this is east Texas with lots of trees.
The main bedroom with jacuzzi and bathroom is too open. No privacy. The second bedroom has a regular bathroom with door, and a shower.
It’s a peaceful, restful place. It’s been quiet during our visit (but school isn’t out so can’t say how it will be during summer months).
We’ve enjoyed the resort as a place to get away for a few days, but doubt we’ll return.
