Could never contact
Actually, my wife and I and another couple went up to play the Apple Mountain Golf Course and wanted to consider staying at the associated Resort – but we could never get connected nor get a response. The course was a disappointment considering our trip up and was sub-par as a “resort” course, recognizing that it was recently aerated, which should have been passed to us when we made the reservation. The “resort” pro-shop was very sub-par as well with No food and limited clothing selection. Sorry, but the personnel were not particularly cordial either.
Location is all this place has to offer!
I know our years with Wyndham have spoiled us. We purchased Holiday Inn Orange Lake assuming that resort was representative of all their properties. WRONG! We checked in at Apple Mountain and found that we were assigned a top-floor unit with lots of stairs to climb. My husband is unable to climb stairs, so we requested a room change. We were told that they were fully booked (parking lot has remained virtually empty for entire time), but she did offer a unit with 6 steps down.
The unit itself is horrible! Tiny rooms, old and worn furniture, ancient kitchen appliances. The shower in the master bedroom is in the jetted tub, which my husband can’t get into. We had thought he could shower in the pool area, but we found that there is no shower available there. He will have to make do with “touch-up” baths in the sink!
Hot tub is open; but it, too, is sub-standard! One step onto bench and no additional steps. There is a handicapped lift by the hot tub, but it doesn’t work; so my husband couldn’t enter it. Furthermore, we were advised that it closes at dusk because they haven’t installed lights in it yet.
And then there are the 6 steps down to our unit. They are definitely not to code. All are of varying heights and depths, and the bottom large step is slanted at a dangerous angle. I have to hang onto my husband to ensure that he doesn’t fall.
All in all, I’m amazed that Holiday Inn allows this place to use its name.
Location is the only thing this place has to offer.
A room with a view--of a wall
Beware if you book here. You may end up with a unit that is fully below ground level. Instead of a view of the beautiful Georgia sky, you get a view of a wall. No sunshine for the basement dwellers. It makes the stay depressing. We traded Disney Vacation Club points for Saratoga Springs Resort for this Motel 6 kind of place. Ceiling in the bathroom is cracked, room phone did not work, Wi-Fi is as slow as the DSL service I have at home, mini-golf area is very worn and tired (carpet ripped and up-turned), and a rusty piece of metal hangs down from the bridge that connects the parking lot with the above-ground portion of the Presidential building one units. We moat-dwellers got a perfect view of the underside of the bridge– and all its warts. The swimming pool is the best part of the resort, however, even there maintenance is lacking. The pool deck is power washed and the debris is swept into the bushes next to the deck. The tent caterpillar nests hanging over the pool deck are not attended to. It would be a simple matter to clip the affected branches out so patrons do not have the bug debris falling on the tables. More umbrellas on the deck would be appreciated. This resort is NOT a good value for DVC exchange points. I could not help but think that someone from RCI will be enjoying fabulous views of Saratoga grounds, fountains, and Disney Springs, while I looked at a wall and overgrown hayfield behind the Presidential Units at Apple Mountain Resort.
Bugs
Apple mountain has bugs. We pay a lot of money for this resort. This is not the first time we have found bugs in Apple Mountain Resort. Holiday Inn, is this what we can expect from your company. FYI- Bugs are your messy little issue. OMG
Off Season Get Away
This was a quiet vacation with not much going on in northern GA. Apple Mountain Resort is an older resort. The grounds and visitor center are well maintained but the units are old and in need of updating. When we stayed, someone visited our unit and said they were updating the furnishings. They need to do more than furnishings. The kitchen cabinets were well worn and did not close. The microwave had a rusty window. The stove was not cleaned from the previous guest. Cleaning could be better. We enjoyed our stay but was disappointed in the quality of the unit.
A Pitiful Change
Apple Mountain still had a nice condo. The staff is needing to be more cordial since they have become Holiday Inn employees. Be sure you bring all your personal supplies because you will have only a starter kit. There is no store on the property now. The attitude of the staff is very snobbish. Silverleaf owners you will be treated like second class members. You will have to pick up your own linens from the front desk. We will not be back.
Very Poor
Never again, will I return to Apple Mountain Resort… With Being a member of silverleaf. My stay was very much a let down & was very disappointed with the staff very rude unprofessional Nothing to offer at the Resort. I Would never recommend family or friends to the Apple Mountain resort in Clarksville Georgia
