Club Pyla Larnaca
Friendly staff, reasonably furnished accommodation, though not to the high standard of any other RCI apartment we have stayed in. VERY POORLY equipped and standard of utensils etc not particularly good – seemed to be a mishmash of odds and ends. No iron, ironing board, coffee maker or hairdryer, all of which are usually supplied in RCI accommodation. There is no laundry room and to get the use of an iron you have to ask days in advance – apparently, there are only four between the forty apartments. Luggage allowance means that obviously, you need laundry facilities. Not terribly impressed with having to carry luggage up four flights of stairs – we are fortunate to be able-bodied, but some might not be. Maid service adequate though fairly basic.
There is no health club as advertised on the website.
BE WARNED
On arrival, you pay a 50 euro deposit, which is normal and usually covers for breakages etc. In the past, we have always had this back on signing out. At this accommodation, not only do you lose the deposit but they also ask you for another 20 euros “this 70 euros is to cover for maid service and utilities” !! – I always thought these were included in RCI timeshare properties! When we paid the deposit no one warned us about this.
Although we had an excellent holiday in Larnaca, I would not recommend this apartment to anyone who is used to RCI standards.
Club Pyla (RCI)
Our first impression of the apartments was very good.
We were met by Philip who was friendly and offered us a drink on the house.
We had to walk through the hotel and up 4 flights of stairs to our apartment which was ok as we are fairly fit but there are no lifts so would not suit anyone less fit than us.
The apartment was what we expected, although not up to the usual standard we have had through RCI.
The bed was comfortable and although the sheets were always clean, some of them were ripped.
The beds were changed twice weekly.
The cutlery was mismatched and although there were 4 cups sauces and plates, the 4 mugs were mismatched and the cooking utensils were very sparse. We would not recommend it to anyone else.
Cyprus
Very quiet and relaxing place not many people around but we were early in the season lots of places to eat nearby very reasonable prices a couple of supermarkets close by also. Bus stops outside resort beach a walk over the road.
The Club Pyla Beach resort
A very good situation for a club near the sea. Interesting even without a car due to the bus situated very near the residence.
Larnaka is a very interesting town with many things to visit and numerous very good restaurants.
Limassol which is not far by the bus is also interesting to visit
Fun in the sun
Just what we imagined an old Cyprian Villa should have looked like, big spacious pool deck and place to have a nice meal. the room was a little small, but we used it to sleep and was not there long enough to worry about space, the kitchen was fitted with all the amenities you need for self-catering, but the pizza at the restaurant is a MUST.
It was within 5-minute walking distance from 7 restaurants and 2 minutes away from a bus stop, and 10 minutes away from the beach.
basic accommodation, clean and good value
We stayed here for a week in a one bedroom apartment on a timeshare exchange. Although the accommodation is basic and a little dated, the place is kept very clean and has all the basic facilities for self-catering. While we were there the accommodation was cleaned daily. The gardens are very well maintained and we found the staff very helpful. The location of this hotel is about 20 minutes bus ride to Larnaca promenade.
The bus stop is just outside the apartments. On a Wednesday evening, there is a BBQ on site, which is excellent value at 15 Euros.
All the food was very fresh and well prepared with a lot of choices. We also enjoyed the Cypriot culture show. The buffet on Sunday again was plenty with a choice of salads, meats, bread, fresh fruit and sweets.
This was proper homemade cooking and again excellent value at 8.5 Euros. There are a number of eating places near the hotel and also a supermarket for all the basic needs. I would definitely recommend this place as we felt very much at home as nothing was too much trouble for the staff, always willing to help.
