RCI beware, MARBESA CLUB is not Playa Real
RCI may tell you that you are going to Playa Real, but when you show up you are sent to Marbesa Club which is 1km away and then told you are not allowed to use the nice outdoor pool facilities at Playa Real.
Marbesa Club is extremely dated with poorly maintained furniture and facilities.
There is no double bed in the unit, just a bunk bed and an extremely cheap pull out sofa. The television was an old 13-inch tube with a very poor selection of channels.
The pool at Marbesa Club had chipped paint and rust everywhere, and only 4 chairs, 2 of which were broken. I do not recommend this unit to anyone
Heritage Marbella not recommended. Beware!
El Toro apartment 307 is outdated with no dishwasher, no sun on the balcony, terrible bedding and pillows, towels were scratchy, one bar of soap for 4 people. Unsuitable for elderly or people who don’t like far walks up hills and lots of stairs.
Difficult resort to find, pool is nice but unheated, great restaurants in the area was a positive, the apartment was clean.
If you like furnishings from 1970’s this is the place.
Reviews months ago said laundry facility was not working and still accurate in June 2018: washed clothes and only half the cycle worked. Rung out clothes by hand and drove to a gas station laundry to rewash. Waited for 3 hours for maintenance to fix the laundry at first and the hotel staff gave us the runaround and no help. We checked out early because it was unpleasant and we couldn’t sleep well.
We were so disappointed, made the best of it but would not recommend this resort. Not a good experience.
Not a pleasant introduction to this resort.
My husband and I are both in our 70’s and we were left to get our luggage up a relatively steep hill.
Then realized we had been checked in to the wrong unit. I had let them know I had bad knees and they put us into a unit with stairs. Beds very uncomfortable and a sparse supply of towels with charges for the extras we required. No amenities whatsoever.
Don’t Bother Going
I have had a timeshare for 30 years and have never had any issues with its performance.
It has always met its criteria, with minimal of fuss.
I had a week left with the RCI exchange company for 2 years.
It’s quite simple-if you don’t Use It You Lose It.
I decided to use it and I paid the exchange fee and I paid the extension fee. If your in a timeshare you know what I mean.
It’s all done by grades.
My home resort is in Florida and I normally exchange that around the world.
This time I exchange it to The Heritage Club-Playa Real.
We arrived 2 Days after our booking in time with My “92” year Old father in law.
Who we’ve holidayed with for 15 years and always used the RCI week exchange for him.
We arrived to be give keys to a completely different place to the one booked.
An old dishevelled apartment block called Coronada.
I made my feelings known to RCI and a rather sarcastic comment came back from the operator in Cork. I was calling On My Mobile from Spain. At one point the operative said “I should have looked at it on Line”-Sorry I said Booked it with Yourselves. Any way-This building Were In, isn’t even On Line-It’s Only Yer Resort above.
In my whole history of holidaying and exchanges “I now know the stories” The Resort even had the cheek to come over to the Block “Denise” then invite me to breakfast to The Posh One ( which we should have been in). The old potato I won’t be selling. I said I won’t be buying.
We looked at the posh one later that day. A bit untidy for a Crown Resort but hay!ho!
We asked if we could use the pool area here as Ours was not with a sea view or deck Chairs for us to sit on. Ours didn’t have a lovely Restaurant like this one had( Robertos-Very pleasant Manager invited us backfired dinner) or a Pool Bar like this one.
I love my home “Time Share Resort“ in 30 years obviously it’s expensive ( the maintenance charges) but the holidays I had are second to none. So Just be careful when you exchange with RCI and make sure this resort doesn’t have other Appalling Outhouses to stick you in.
Exchanger Beware. I’ll be looking at RCI with a fine tooth comb on their Heritage Hotels & Resorts additional accommodation. Should there be a Next Time!!!!!!!!!!!
I should have known there was an issue when given the envelope. Inside we’re the keys a piece of typed paper saying.
1) Please Note the Concierge does not work for Heritage Resorts & Hotels.
2) He should only give you the keys and NOT take you to your apartment ( instead he pointed to it) nor answer “to questions” as He only speaks Spanish.
3) Please come Tomorrow to Reception with all the adults passports and a credit card to check in.
Kind regards, Reception Team @ Heritage Resorts & Hotels.
Thank God my father in law can walk and so can we.
We also speak Spanish and why not we’re in Spain.
John.
Hugely disappointing
As RCI members for a number of years, the Toro complex which is part of the Heritage resort is by far the worst holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.
Lots of additional charges including 34 euro for utilities, 50 euro a week for wifi (the bar area is free), thankfully we had our own dongle which we used, there are additional charges if you want cleaners more than once a week etc.
A considerable walk from the main resort, the apartments need a huge bunch of keys to access all gates & doors, one set for four of us. They are not well maintained at all & have very old & worn out furniture with drawers & doors that don’t close properly & a shower that soaks the bathroom floor making it dangerous to use, this bathroom has no storage or space for even the basics.
The apartment is only cleaned midweek, the beds are not comfortable & sheets & towels are only changed once a week, this is not good when needing to take two showers most days & the floor mat is wringing wet from the poorly designed shower.
Staff are not particularly welcoming or helpful, we asked for two double bedrooms & got a double & a twin. No hairdryer provided or safe even though you are advised to use one.
The outdoor pool has no shade or parasols, the only option for shade is to pay to use the shaded jacuzzi (when it in use) or retreat to the apartment.
The small veranda has cheap plastic table & chairs on badly stained tiles and a view of the street, if you look over a number of streets & between the houses & trees you can just about see the sea in the distance.
A car is essential to access shops & restaurants & pavements are in very poor condition if you decide to take the considerable walk to the main resort area or local steakhouse which is excellent. Accessing the gate is awkward as the key fob has to be inserted into the lock which is situated extremely low, great if you are in a very low sports car.
Lighting is very poor at night with low-level lights in the grounds, extremely poor lighting at the gate & no automatic light in the entrance hall making it difficult to find the light switch & enter the apartment at night.
The only redeeming feature of this apartment was very good water pressure in the en-suite shower.
Very basic, budget accommodation that is extremely disappointing.
Don’t bother wasting your time or money
We visited this resort as a family from Australia with adult children and partners for Christmas this year to meet up with our daughter and her partner who have been living in London.
We were all so looking forward to it. We arrived 23rd December at 6.30pm after being delayed at the airport due to missing luggage. We checked in and were given a set of keys for Fort Knox. It took us 15 mins to unlock the villa.
We were thinking it was a bit over the top with roller shutters on all sliding glass doors. If only we had known! We had Christmas Day in the villa, and on Boxing Day set off to see Seville about 3 hours drive from the resort.
When we got back the villa had been accessed and our money was stolen. No one could have broken into the unit it was accessed by key. Beware if you are renting in this resort!
They know the rental places and you will be robbed! The resort couldn’t have cared less. The police were helpful in providing us with a report. It certainly soured our visit to South Spain! Which is a shame as it is beautiful!
