Let Mercantile Claims assist you with BlueBay Beach Club Timeshare Release, Claims & Compensation
Owners of BlueBay Beach Club timeshares often find themselves trapped in infinite contracts with rapidly increasing maintenance fees which ultimately stems from a mis-sold timeshare contract. Over recent years there have been a number of groundbreaking rulings regarding mis-sold timeshares by many timeshare groups and resorts which have resulted in refunds and compensation. Many owners of BlueBay Beach Club timeshare contracts are entitled to, or have already made claims.
There are a number of reasons why people would start a timeshare claims including the high costs of paying Timeshare maintenance fees and the selling of timeshare agreements that were sold ‘in perpetuity’ meaning that you are tied into your timeshare for life, and often that the timeshare will be passed on to your children – whether you children want this or not
Needs repair and modernisation
I have been coming to the Blue Bay Beach club or a number of years as my parents own a timeshare there, however, I have to say that on my current visit I was very disappointed.
* The rollaway sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable with lumpy springs (I bled on the last night from a loose spring).
* The air-conditioning was exceptionally poor and I was forced to buy a fan.
* The TV charged for most channels (somewhat insulting given the poor quality of the picture). There was also a charge for the Wi-Fi, Blue Bay’s nearest competitor the Orquidea charged for neither.
* The half board option lacked children’s choices particularly for entree’s and the breakfast had potato croquettes instead of hash browns which made little sense.
* The Children’s swing had a broken chainThe hotel itself is beautifully landscaped with the friendly wait staff and the area quiet for families but there needs to be upgrades and maintenance to the hotel for it to maintain its 4 star standard. Charging for the internet and TV simply seems out of step with the times and their competitors.

Disappointed
Booked this hotel as it looked lovely in the photos big mistake, the hotel is very run down, seemingly this hotel was fully booked but we hardly saw anyone we were told no one uses the facilities because it’s full of timeshare people, we went down to the bar 5 times to watch the entertainment and 5 times the entertainment wasn’t on !!
We were told if no-one is in the bar they send the entertainment away, the bed we slept in was extremely uncomfortable for us also, it costs 40.5 euros if you want to use your room safe also which I was fuming about but we needed to pay it for passports etc, also very very windy staying at blue bay because it’s so high up on the hill, this was our first time in Gran Canaria and I think I picked the wrong area to stay, when we go back next I would recommend staying playa de ingles or even Porto Rico which is really hot for this time of year, hope my review helps if you haven’t been to Gran Canaria before ……
Honest review
Having read the reviews just before we left I was a little nervous but decided to go with an open mind. When we arrived we were both happily surprised by the amazing view from the reception area, check in was efficient but not friendly.
Our room, a superior apartment on the 4th floor, was spacious and again had a great view of the ocean. The disappointing aspects were the bed, uncomfy with the oddest bed linen, two single worm duvets with holes in plus extremely firm pillows – we asked for pillows to be changed to softer ones and were told none available. We were also disappointed by the cleaning service, it was not thorough and they were very unhelpful.
The pool was freezing, my partner had a couple of swims but I could not face the cold. Even standing up to your knees is painful.
The pool bar in the evening was where we had the best experience at this hotel. Both the staff here, the lovely barman and the DJ were friendly, characterful and welcoming. We popped in for a drink at the end of the night most days to chat.
Overall this hotel is tired and the majority of the staff seemed disengaged. I liked the small aircraft buzzing around but did find the motorbikes and microlights very noises. There is an unexplained timeshare aspect to this hotel, we were confused as to what was going on but were told 60% of the rooms were timeshare? If this is the case where are all the annual service charges being spent as it certainly isn’t in the hotel?!
The location was brilliant, we used the buses almost every day as they were so convent and cheap! You can get anywhere from this location. Also, a short walk down the hill brings you to a wonderful complex of restaurants and gift shops, pleasantly situated, sheltered from the wind and enjoying the sunshine, we ate in several of the restaurants and were never disappointed.
Would we stay again, no, but we had a great week because we wanted too and focused on the positives
BlueBay Beach Club Severe warning
Once you understand that this facility is in receivership all fall into place!
Our recent stay February 2014 should be a stark warning to anyone considering this atrocious accommodation, the apartments are disgraceful and almost uninhabitable the curtains ,bed linen utensils and kitchen facilities are in appalling state and this in addition to the to the dreadful service we received in resort served to ensure we had a nightmare of a holiday.
The whole resort is dilapidated, tired and clearly has not been upgraded for twenty years (this was admitted by the resort management! (Apart from 5 apartments which are prioritised for timeshare owners…these are no better! As we discovered when attempting to relocate from our original apartment)
In addition to the dilapidated property, the Blue Bay Beach Club is located near to a landfill site from which the pungent smell of waste is constant. This alongside the fact a local Racing circuit (being situated at the side of the resort,)creates noise pollution from Motorcycles and Racing cars which is unbearable. There is also a local airport at the side of the property and light aircraft are constantly flying in, all of which serves to provide a completely unacceptable retreat in which to relax.
For the record in my discussions with the local management of the property, they admitted the property is in receivership and they are seeking a new owner, in addition, they confirmed their agreement that the property was dilapidated and stated that Marriott owners (we exchanged our timeshare via Marriott,) always complain of the unacceptable standards. They also confirmed they are embarrassed to promote and cater for guests in such unacceptable conditions.
Whilst they offered to move us to another apartment this was no better and after waiting late into the afternoon were still unable to show us the apartment in a clean state
The local restaurants are awash with restauranteurs continually “badgering” you to eat in their restaurants…we, therefore, took a cab every night to eat in neighbouring Maspalomas in order to avoid these intrusions.
I have no other motive here other than to warn potential holidaymakers about what they will face at this resort
I hope you listen to my warning
Cockroach misery!
We booked this as a last minute deal through let us go canaries and couldn’t believe the price on what was described as a 4 star resort with gym, jacuzzi, a la carte restaurant. As the previous mentioned, it is a timeshare/holiday ownership resort (RCI) but that didn’t bother us as we had previously stayed in a Sunterra timeshare in March of this year in Tenerife which was absolutely fabulous, so with this in mind, we had high hopes for this place.
However………
As the previous review mentions, we endured all that and more.
When arriving at the reception after the taxi driver finally found it, we were told that although our surname was on their list, there were also other people with the same surname and they were unsure which room they were in, therefore advising that they may be someone in our room.
No porter took us to our room, unlike Sunterra, when we eventually found it on the ground floor it was like cell block Has the resort is built into a cliff. The fridge was old, and rusty, there was tissue blocking gaps in the kitchen, a cockroach in the bedroom (which we kind of excepted as Gran Canaria is renowned for them). After our long journey, all we wanted was a shower and bed, only to be greeted by a horrible smell from the shower drain.
The first thing in the morning we complained and they sent a cleaner down to put something down the drain. This worked for a day and the smell returned. After complaining again they sent a maintenance man, which again it disappear for a day and return and again we complained. In the end, we sort of gave up complaining as the idea was not to get stressed out over it.
We then endured the sales meeting of 3 hours (something that we could not get out of as Lets Go Canaries males you sign a declaration or you get charged the full rate!) We told them they were having a laugh asking for £7000 plus £280 per year maintenance on a below 3-star resort. They show you a show penthouse that has been done up, beautiful it is, however, if they can’t make efforts now to get it right why buy into it.
The icing on the cake of this holiday was at the latter part of it when we returned back one evening to find over 15 cockroaches roaming our apartment (especially in the bathroom in the shower). Fortunately, we had spray but there was no way we were staying in the apartment that night. On complaining to the reception who advised they could not move us and would send security to deal with, we fretting to sleep in reception that night, we were eventually moved. (3 apartments later as 2 of them had cockroaches in them) We showed the security guard our apartment and he was horrified they were crawling over the kitchen cabinet and in the bedroom.
No one helped us move our stuff to our new room, although the duty manager did apologise and gave us our new room right up until we left for the airport at 1am. We were advised that cockroaches will get in rooms especially those on the ground floor. Why is that when we checked with our neighbour they only had one in their room that night! personally, I think we were quite tolerable we should have complained more. Considering they are desperate for people to hand over money, they need to look at presentation and service.
Good things were the jacuzzi, pool and the bar/restaurant staff, they were really friendly.
An experience I won’t forget
Immediately we were disappointed.
The lobby was hot upon arrival, we were assigned a bungalow that was considered a downgrade from the timeshare purchased and the staff were not VERY accommodating re the error; instead, excuses were made and an empty promise to notify the manager who NEVER responded to our plight.
The guests above us were noisy and a complaint was registered with the front desk to no avail because the noise continued throughout the late night, forcing us the following night to attempt remedy of the situation ourselves (knocking on the door and asking that the noise is limited).
Overall, it was a poor experience and I (we) will not recommend or stay at Airtours again.
