ONA CAMPANARIO
We stayed here for 11 nights the reception staff and general staff were all lovely, but externally it looked ok, but when you looked closer the whole site is in need of a lot of refurbishment, the rooms are outdated and dirty and the air conditioner didn`t work properly and was really loud!
The balcony area has broken tiles and mould and paints flaking off everywhere, the swimming pools have half the small tiles missing from them and they are really sharp when you tread on them and there is black mould in the grout in the pool!
The pool bar looks unclean too, it just needs a cleanup and a paint!
They need new sunbeds, they all seem to dig in your back as the covers are really badly worn through and dip down and they look old!
The foyer looked the only ok area in this site!
Overall It needs a lot of money and time spent on it and it would need to shut for a few months to do this and then it could be a really good place to stay! They had a customer rating in the reception of 8.4! No way we rate you as lucky if you get a 6 from us!
holiday from hell
this has to be the worst place I have stayed in just back from a 14 night stay very rude lady when we arrived we were a family of 6 my husband and I our son and his wife 2 16 year old boys no housekeeping had to ask after 5 days to be told we could only have our apartment cleaned twice more before we left nothing for the boys to do no parasols at the pool hookers coming and going police all over the place so as you can imagine I will never visit Calahonda again
Ok but not much to do...
Me and my wife have recently returned from this resort in Mijas, Costa Del Sol.
On arrival, we were given an upgrade to family room, which has 3 bedrooms and 2 balconies. this was a bit much for 2 people, but we went with it.
The apartment was very clean, two bathrooms and basic amities in the apartment.
We were a little disappointed that the TV was either Spanish or German!
Room service was only provided on one day, halfway through our 1-week stay.
We had to pay for 1 weeks WIFI, which was about 35 euros for the week. We had a car but wasn’t happy to pay the extra 35 euros to park in the massive empty underground car park. some parking is provided at the front of the resort, but not much and Spanish drivers love to take up 2 parking spaces for 1 vehicle!
The hotel has 3 pools. 1 for very small children, the next is for adults/ old children and then the main large pool. The two main pools were VERY cold.
The resort didn’t have any evening entertainment but had a restaurant on site and a walk up pool bar/hut.
The hut and restaurant called “Scandals” are run and owned by an English couple. The pool bar opening times was very hit and miss, but the restaurant was good. Great tapas!!!
We did feel that the prices for the food were a bit over what we had expected, but Gale and Kevin are very welcoming.
The resort is a bit tired on the outside, which is in need of a paint brush. The maintenance man starts work about 08:30, so you are woken up by about 09:00!
They don’t open up the pool area until about 10:30-11:00 unless you are Spanish when you can talk your way in early to get a sunbed in the sun and avoid the shaded areas!
We felt that we really did need a car to get around. The nearest point to get to a beach would be about 20 minutes walk, but the beach we found wasn’t very good and looked like a building site.
To get from Malaga Airport to the resort will cost 80 euros each way via taxi.
we visited Gibraltar, Rhonda and went to the local supermarkets, which are close if you have a car!
5 minute walk away was a line of restaurants, which were good and offered great food. These are all good, but you don’t get a romantic view, as they all face onto the main road.
Overall- OK and would consider returning for a self-catering holiday, but not until the place has had a facelift.
A bit tired and in need of a few changes
Whilst the staff are very accommodating, the resort needs a bit of an update, just little things would make a huge difference.
We were in a three-bed apartment, which only had one settee, okay for us as a couple but for 6/8 people, it’s ridiculous. The satellite TV only has two English channels, both of which are news channels.
The bedding is appalling, no mattress cover in the main bedroom and the sheets were too far too small and cheap.
We didn’t ask for a mattress protector as we noted that on the single beds which had them, they had a plastic backing, like an incontinence sheet.
The sunbeds were very careworn but that there was a roof terrace was a big plus although pool towels are not provided.
All in all the resort looks tired and yet with just a few homely touches, it could be so much better.
I also think being charged 19 euros to use the room safe is outrageous, it should be complimentary and so all in all, we definitely would not return.
Very disappointed
Well, don’t know where to start.
Not for English families as no television in English or any radio stations either.
Staff are not interested in giving you any information about anything no restaurant or proper bar as you can sit and relax with your family at night all in all don’t even consider going there.
And they charge you 21 Euro for safe,20 euro for 2 devices that works sporadically also 30 euros for electricity before you are handed keys.
I think that is really bad.
Drastically needs updating.
