Stunning golf
We returned to Anfi Tauro Golf in May. One of our favourite courses, we are always eager to get back. Often experience and expectations do not match but this is never the case with Anfi.
Although the course was not at its pristine best (May is their month for intensive maintenance) it was still as enjoyable as ever. From arrival until departure the experience was superb. The caddy staff greeted us and knew we were returning guests as did the staff in the shop. They could not have done enough for us.
The small army of maintenance staff were generally unobtrusive and did not detract from our enjoyment of the course. They were also comparatively unruffled when a pulled 5 iron of mine landed among them. My shouts of “fore” and profuse apologies afterwards were dismissed with good humour. They even applauded when my recovery shot almost found the hole!
We played twice on this trip and all 4 of our party found the course a fair test and very enjoyable. I have played the course around 10 times and have yet to par (or complete) the 17th. I am looking forward to my next visit when I am determined to remedy that.
Fantastic Holiday Destination
We have been staying in the Villas at the Anfi Tauro Golf Resort and have enjoyed every minute. The villas are spacious and very well equipped with everything you need. We had a two bedroomed villa for four people but there was also a double bed settee in the living area. Each of the bedrooms had an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, television with a couple of English speaking channels.
The bed was very comfortable and huge.
Air conditioning all over the villa so was comfortable all the time even when the weather was steaming hot outside, which was most of the time! Every villa has its own pool which is not huge but is deep and really lovely to cool off in. Under the villa was a basement area which was the same footprint as the whole villa, so huge, plenty of room to park a car and/or boat and there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate room down there.
The kitchen was equipped with most of the things you would need and it was great having two fridges as we could use one as a drinks fridge and one as a food fridge. There are also two freezers but, they were a bit surplus to requirements as we only ever used one for ice cubes!! The kitchen also has a dishwasher and there is a welcome pack left in the cupboard under the sink which has washing up liquid, a sponge, cleaning cloth, dishwasher tablets and black bags.
There is a hairdryer in each of the en suite shower rooms, an ironing board and iron is supplied and also a safe.
The jacuzzi was a really nice touch too.
I did take my Amazon Firestick with me as I like to watch a programme or two in the afternoon to relax before we go out on the town to eat in the evening and was really pleased when it worked really well with the internet connection. Every villa has a code to connect to the internet with unlimited access and it worked really well.
I would be a little worried about the pool if we had had young children as it was very deep and the steps into the pool are huge, I am 5’4″ tall and the water came up to my chin when my feet were on the bottom….it is the same depth all over. It wasn’t a problem for us as we had no children with us, in fact it was a really welcome addition.
My husband did play on the golf course and said that it was a very challenging course but, he did enjoy it.We didn’t hire a car but did wish part way through the week that we had. We had no problem at all getting a taxi, you can just call reception and order one which usually arrives within five minutes, but with all the travelling we did with the wedding, meeting up with friends and family etc…we did spend a small fortune on taxis. In saying that, the taxi fares are very reasonable and you can get the transfer bus if you want to, which is free but it doesn’t run all the time. A little warning where the taxis are concerned….the drivers are a breed unto themselves, very rude, no tolerance at all and speak very little English. As I said before, we did use a lot of taxis throughout our week here and we only had one driver that was in the least bit civil!!
There is a Spar shop within a short walk which has a good range of most things you may need and there is a restaurant beside it which is quite good and very reasonably priced.
To get to anywhere else though you do need a car, taxi or transfer bus. To get a taxi to Puerto Rico, the nearest town, it takes about 10 minutes and costs 5 Euros, with tip. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars in Puerto Rico.
We did go through to Amadores which is a beautiful beach with lots of restaurants right on the beach. There is an excellent Indian Restaurant with the best curries we have ever eaten.
One of the best courses anywhere
I have played golf all over the world, from the British Open Championship Links courses in the UK, Florida Courses, Arizona, Far East Golf Courses, North Africa and various golfing destinations in Europe. Anfi Tauro is a course that I rank in my top ten of all the courses I have played anywhere! It really is superb and fantastic fun to play. The layout is breath-taking and the way they have used the mountain/desert terrain is wonderful. The greens are tricky and if running fast can cause all sorts of problems. No two holes are the same and this makes for a really interesting and challenging round. if you are a decent low handicap player the course forces you to play every shot in the bag. If you are a higher handicap player, a Par on most holes is a real achievement. All in all a great course with wonderful views and a brilliant and challenging layout. If you play it once, you’ll want to go back again and again.
GREAT GOLF COURSE
Super course with very difficult greens but very very good condition. Played from White Pro tees. Good challenge but not overly long as alot of Tees are elevated. Staff are friendly. It’s a tad expensive. Maybe better value in June/July. But I would return again more likely with friends than solo. ( other 2 ball booking cancelled/ not Anfi Tauro fault ). Took away from experience but not a deal breaker.
If you break 80 here you have played well.
A day at Anfi Golf Tauro
A superb setting for a golf course. The course is testing but very enjoyable. Have played there several times but they are currently working on several fairways and have laid some fertilizer down which took away some of the enjoyment, but if it is to improve the course then it is worth it..
Golfing paradise
Before I left for my holiday I checked the website for Anfi Tauro golf and the prices were quite expensive so decided I wouldn’t play while there.
Once I arrived at the hotel I quickly realised June was not the main golfing season so there were offers on, a round of golf, club hire a buggy and 6 balls was 50 euros.
Absolute bargain I booked my tee time straight away, had to play in trainers as all I had but worth it. The course was stunning and the views like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I had 2 rounds while on my holiday and they were the highlight of my time there. Course was very difficult but amazing condition if you love golf you need to play this course.
Fun and challenging
I played three rounds of golf at Anfi Tauro. Tauro is a fun course to play with the most beautiful and stunning scenery. The course is challenging to play and it pays off playing a little short. If not you need to be fairly precise in your play. Whether you’re a beginner or have played for a while, this is a beautiful, fun and challenging course.
What a course!!!
Played Anfi Tauro in September with mates and it has to be the best course we’ve played. Beautifully set out, lush fairways and gorgeous scenery. Buggy is a must with all the raised tees/level changes. Very challenging course so take plenty of balls – I managed with the one somehow but playing partners were less lucky. I very much doubt you’d be disappointed with this course.
