Diamond not as good as they used to be!
Just came back from White Sands Beach Club. Beautiful scenery. They have the perfect spot.
Lots of steps so if you can’t get around much. Don’t even consider this place. No help with luggage or shown to rooms.
As diamond members would have thought you get “special treatment” or maybe a few perks. No not the case. Used to.
Maintenance fees increase every year. And for what you get, you may as well book through booking.com.
Cheaper and if you don’t want to go you are not losing money. Had to ask for the room to be cleaned on our 3rd day. Bins to be emptied. Clean towels. They used to clean rooms every day. Not anymore.
Used to have a newspaper. Not anymore.
Could change your beach towels. Not anymore unless you are paying.
Washing machine supposed to get cheaper. Not anymore. It’s the same for everyone.
So no point in joining their scheme.
Bins overflowing by reception. Disgusting stuff in the pool. Reported to reception. Nothing done.
Pool times 9 til 7 but they chuck you out early. Which is really frustrating as 7 is 7 not 6.45. You literally have to leave. As for the beds. We were sat on the beds on our first day, waiting for our room. Got questioned by lifeguard if staying and our room number. Felt like we shouldn’t be sat there. Or maybe get kicked off the beds. Even if there are 20 free beds. You can’t leave a towel for your partner. Literally 1 minute you get questioned.
My niece was swimming and the lifeguard was asking where she was. Looking in the pool for her. Making out I was lying. I nearly put my towels on the floor next to the bed to get her off my back. So annoying. I understand that you shouldn’t save beds. But you can’t even go to the loo. Or get a drink. I asked about the times for the pool. Lifeguard has to get ready to leave at 7 so you have to go. I asked to make it known to the manager. Didn’t hear a thing.
You have to leave towels on the floor in your apartment if you want them changed, which I did. But they left them there. No clean towels.
No jumping in the pool, diving, snorkels. Just swim. But you can play with a ball or woggles. So a bit boring if you have kids. No kids club. Or entertainment.
Beach is lovely and some nice restaurants around. Was disappointed on the whole as diamond used to make you feel special as being a member. But they don’t now.
They have cut back on the little things. Doesn’t cost a lot but means a lot. Their correspondence is out of date as you look like an idiot waiting for tokens for the washer as it says so on their literature. After waiting 20 mins in reception to be told, you just use your euros. And sorry no discount anymore. As I said if it had said that I wouldn’t have been there waiting.
Didn’t ever see a hot tub so not sure where that was hiding.

Average
Would be the only word to describe White Sands Beach Club
Everything about the resort is cramped from the apartments to the ridiculous packed sunbeds by the pool.
It’s not possible to have more than two hot showers making getting ready in apartments that apparently sleep six impossible
On the plus side, staff are really helpful
Also view from the pool and proximity to the beach are both great
Very quiet and pretty shabby surrounding area you really need a car if staying here
family holiday
Lovely resort but not great if you have trouble with steps..there was 11 of us including our baby grandson..so carrying him and a pushchair up is not ideal. This is our 3rd time of visiting here. But previously it had just been with adults.
Reception staff were very helpful, until we had to complain about the White’s Bar then we were told it had nothing to do with them! But as the bar is the only one on the site I think they could have been more helpful. White’s Bar is ok for couples but were unable to manage to deliver food to our large group and service was appalling, we only ate there 2 times over our two weeks.
First visit was ok we had the speciality of roast lamb which was lovely but it only came with one half of a potato and a spoonful of veg..so definitely not value for money. 2nd time only 7 of the 11 meals arrived at our table and were eaten before any member of staff came over to us, so service on this occasion was diabolical they were busy but as we visited early in the season I dread to think what it’ll be like at the height of it! Also to cap off the disaster of the evening they tried to charge us for extra wine that we had not even had!
Also I think that the sunbeds on the beach should have been free for guests €15 per couple a day was very expensive. Luckily we always managed to get sunbeds around the pool, but I think in school holidays it would be a problem! l We will not be returning to White Sands Beach Club again! As diamond resorts members we have stayed in many countries and loads of their resorts this was definitely the worse one !
Nice but nothing special
Stayed for 2 weeks and had an okay time at the resort. However, the pool area is tiny, with no room to spread out, your listening to 3 conversations at once, it really is that bad. Also the water was very cold, which is why not many people were in it. The rooms are adequate and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The highlight of the stay was Smithys bar, a great place to eat and drink and meet other people. Smithy, Dan, and Liz really look after you and we found ourselves in this bar/restaurant every day.
We will be going back to the resort although probably not to white sands.
Not bad, but disappointing!
My husband, six-year-old son and I spent 10 days at this resort.
I must admit that my stay was not bad overall, but it was surely disappointing if I read other travellers’ reviews. First of all, we are Diamond members and we have stayed at several properties in Europe (check my profile).
We had booked a one bedroom unit and we were given a renewed apartment enough close to the pool. Well, the unit was yes brand new (mostly with Ikea-like furniture… not luxurious, but yes new), but it was TINY. We were lucky we had a nice patio which we could enjoy for lunch and dinner thanks to lovely Menorca’s climate.
The pool is yes nice but overcrowded. You should queue in the morning to get a chair (9 a.m. – be on time!!)… If you are late, no space. People need to stay so close to each other… not for me!
And last but not least, ants. In the last two days, our units was literally full of ants.
They had found a way through the TV cable to get inside. We complained at the reception and the lady answered “I know, it’s a problem we have. I’ll send someone to clean it”. The following day, the problem was still there. We were lucky we had to check out. How can you know that you have (such) a problem and not deal with it?
Sorry but I cannot second other travellers’ good reviews, I would’t be back at White Sands!
Good but not great
This was our second visit to this resort, the first one being some ten years ago. Since that time the resort has been taken over by Diamond Resorts International who has done a good job in bringing up standards.
The main downside to the resort is the fact that it is built on the side of a hill and there are very few flat areas and it is necessary to go up and down steps to move around within the resort. It is definitely NOT for people who have difficulty walking.
The good points are that the resort is small and doesn’t feel crowded, the view from the pool area and many of the apartments is very good as the hillside location gives a good view over the bay, and there is a good safe beach, which whilst not private, is certainly not crowded. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the reception area is open and staffed 24 hours a day.
The only onsite facilities for eating are provided by a restaurant/clubhouse which offers breakfast lunch and dinner in addition to snacks and drinks. The size of the servings is good but the quality is only average, there is a good menu with daily specials. The nearest shops are only about 400m away but are up a steep flight of some 100 steps. Alternatively, you can walk along the road which takes about 10 minutes.
The resort does not provide much in the way of entertainment, but there is a kids club and the infinity pool and surrounding sunbed area is very pleasant and has good views over the bay. The lifeguard is quite firm in preventing guests from reserving sun beds for hours on end without using them.
There are a number of options for shops and restaurants in the area, but unless you enjoy walking fairly long distances a car is pretty much essential.
Minorca is a beautiful green island which is quiet and largely uncommercialised, the scenery around the coast is stunning and the people are friendly. The resort is well situated for either exploring the island or for relaxing and in spite of its shortcomings we are likely to go back
Holiday ruined by view of a wall from terrace
We exchanged our timeshare in Gran Canaria for this holiday.
We expected at least 4 star accommodation and were extremely disappointed.
The whole unit needed refurbishing and updating. The cleaners did a good job but the furnishings looked very well worn and shabby. The bedroom was dull and dreary, we had to keep the light on in the day. (It didn’t help that one has to pay for the electricity at the end of the week! )
The bedroom looked out to a wall at the back of the unit. We could have put up with this but were so disappointed by the view from the terrace. In fact, the toilet window of the apartment in front looked right onto our ‘balcony’.
We did complain to the Manager who seemed very understanding but left a message with her Receptionist later in the day offering us an alternative room with almost the same view. We found this quite insulting because the club did not look full.
I had actually booked this holiday very early in the year so it wasn’t a late booking where one might expect to be given a poorer standard of accommodation
Menorca is a lovely island. I would love to return here but not to The White Sands. The whole holiday was ruined by the view from the terrace.
