Villas De Santa Fe bad experience
We booked online due to the overall good reviews.
However, we found this hotel to be one of the very worst experiences we have had. Upon arrival, we were booked into room 1201, a room immediately off of the parking lot about 5 feet from a 20-minute parking sign and the front of three cars. When we got into the room we discovered a broken bed, as well.
We asked whether or not we could change rooms and were told that they were fully booked. The room was strange (no door on the bathroom!) and cars came and went late into the night and early in the morning. We couldn’t open the shades so were basically in an overpriced cave.
In a property of that size, it seemed impossible to us that they couldn’t accommodate our request on the 2nd night to change rooms. When I asked this question I was told that because it is a time-share property, the timeshare guests get the first pick of the rooms.
I expected that I was being lied to and checked online both that day as well as the next morning and found that they continued to advertise rooms online as being available. To top it off, the staff and front desk manager were rather rude and not at all accommodating. Luckily we were able to cancel the 2nd night and found a much better property for slightly more money. I would definitely avoid this property.
!!!10:00AM CHECK OUT TIME!!!
My husband and I stayed two nights at the Villas de Santa Fe.
It was a usual timeshare type room, one bedroom, a small kitchen, living room, clean, nice space.
Although it had a fireplace, it did not work. Maintenance was called and got it working for a few minutes only for it to shut down completely right after he left. The maintenance man did tell us that he had been called the day before for this particular fireplace, so I think they really shouldn’t have given this room out again until it was working.
We enjoyed the room and the location of the hotel. It is not on the Plaza but within walking distance and there is a shuttle if you would rather not walk. We were surprised on our day of checkout that the checkout time was 10:00 am.
We are frequent travellers and have never had a 10:00 am checkout. It was not made known to us upon checking in and it was not written on the back of the door or anywhere else in the room. I called the front desk, who had been very helpful until now, to ask for a half an hour more in order to get our things together and check out. We were told that this facility NEVER gives later checkouts than 10:00 am and if we were in the room any longer we would be charged. We were out within 10 minutes…and before 10:00 am.
After checking out I used the lobby restroom to finish putting on my makeup. It was of no surprise that there were other women in this lobby restroom putting on their makeup too. One told me they knocked on her door and she had just texted her friend that she had been “kicked out” to check out of the villas.
This and the faulty fireplace really took the shine off this hotel.
Close to Everything
The best thing about Villas de Santa Fe is that it is centrally located to many of the must-see locations.
The rooms are reasonably priced, the staff is friendly, and the pools/hot tubs are nice.
There is nothing fancy about this “resort” (fee charged) and parking can be a nightmare, which tends to be an issue everywhere in Santa Fe.
Stick to this side of town though, where you can enjoy the quiet.
Terrible Staff
We stayed at The Villas de Santa Fe in November 2003. This is a time-share that rents out apartments as they become available. It is close to downtown Santa Fe (about 5 blocks) and the rooms are quite spacious with new furnishings.
However, the staff at the front desk was consistently the worst I have ever experienced at any hotel (and I travel extensively for business).
We had booked two rooms only to be told from the front desk staff that they only showed us booking one room. Thankfully I produced a written record of my reservation, clearly showing two rooms. Not only did we have to wait several hours for another apartment to be cleaned, but we were also told that it was our responsibility to confirm our reservation (I thought that’s what a written confirmation was for?). Not only was there no apology from the front desk clerk, but the next day when we spoke to the property manager, he also took no responsibility.Travellers should also note, this property is under construction with lots of debris, furniture and noise in the hallways. This could be a good option for travellers, but the price we paid for a room was not worth the headaches we received from the hotel staff. There are too many other fine hotels in Santa Fe to choose from. We will not be staying at the Villas again.
Leisurely town
My husband and I stayed at the Villas de Santa Fe last summer. We didn’t spend much time in our room but explored the area. The historical plaza is within walking distance.
That was a nice experience, especially the pubs that have overhangs to the plaza to view below and people watch.
There are little chapels (Laurel), one with a winding staircase that does not have any nails or bolts in it. It is considered a miracle. A movie was made about it in the 70’s with Sidney Portier.
We took a side trip to the Tent Rock National Monument and hiked through the trails there. You have to venture onto the nearby reservation to get to the trailhead. We got beautiful pictures of the rock formations there.
Every day we returned to our rooms there was an odour from foods from the previous guests.
I don’t know how they can eliminate that problem, but other than that it was a very nice week in Santa Fe.
The suites are smaller than most of the Diamond Resorts.
My personal data was sold to a marketing company !!!
Several months since a stay at the Villas de Santa Fe. It was fine. What I am not fine with is that my personal information is not being used for telemarketing phone calls late at night. They had my name, my phone number and the period of time I stayed at the Villas.
This was not the resort, they identified themselves as a MARKETING COMPANY. I have no idea how much of my personal information was given, sold, released to a third party. I was not informed that this was going to happen when I checked in.
I called them – oh yes mam. We do this to everyone.
COLOUR ME UNHAPPY !!!!
