SAHARA SUNSET=SHOCKING!
A group of 14 other ladies and I booked back in September 2017 to stay here for three nights for my hen do via on the beach…this had to be done over the phone due to the large group, so they were fully aware this was an all-female group booking! Upon arrival, I was greeted with congratulations from Connie (receptionist) and asked what name the booking was under as she proceeded to search for our booking a very rude/arrogant guy (if you can call him that) Juan stood up and said NO! No hen parties here.
After a very long wait of well over four 1/2hours, and after speaking to other guests and hearing that there is a group of hen ladies already checked in, they still replied with NO!
To add insult to injury, we’d already paid outright for our stay and were there for a relaxing break, as I the hen had only just given birth to a baby two weeks ago, so I wasn’t up for the party life scene
They didn’t even have the decency to offer us any water or allow us to stay the one night for us to get our heads down and deal with the situation in the morning as it was late Friday evening.
We eventually found a hotel for ourselves BUT then had to pay outright for 15 of us for the weekend AGAIN!
On the beach gave a refund as Juan cancelled our booking and played pure ignorance to the fact he was making 15 of us ladies vulnerable in a foreign country so late at night, one being my Nan at 63 who just wanted to get some rest.
A complaints form filled into Juan and Connie’s disgust.
Moral of this story…. DONT EVER book to stay at such an awfully run hotel with obnoxious staff!!!!

Golfing weekend ruined by hotel policies!
I could not criticise this place enough. Staff were rude, unhelpful and on our arrival treated us with utter contempt. As a Christian society on a golf weekend ageing from 42-61 I was horrified to be told on arrival we could t stay there because we resembled a pensioner ‘stag party’! The refusal caused a lot of stress and completely ruined our first day. Thankfully Booking.com sorted us out with a hotel upgrade to compensate us. Staff at these premises were the complete opposite of the shambolic reception we received at Sahara Sunset. My advice is do not stay here if you are male, aged between 40-70 and carrying golf clubs on check in! Thanks for nothing.
Terrible!!-stay clear
Booked in September 2017 for my daughter’s hen do with On the beach. 15 ladies ages from 27-63 with the 63-year-old (my mum) celebrating her birthday on the day of arrival. Upon arrival, we were told by the very rude receptionists Juan & Connie that we were not allowed in as they do not accept hen parties and had been their policy for over a year.
When we finally got hold of On the beach they confirmed to us that they had NO KNOWLEDGE of this or they wouldn’t have booked us into this hotel. Funny thing is there was a kind little lady sat in reception who informed us that there was already a hen party staying in the hotel the same weekend. After checking this website (trip advisor) this too confirms they DO accept hen, stag & large parties.
We had 3 apartments booked under the same name, why was this not looked into as a “group” booking and appropriate action is taken BEFORE we arrived. Asked to speak to the manager on several occasions to be told he was on holiday. Complaints form filed & sent off. My daughter, my mum, my 2 sisters and friends were extremely upset with the way we were treated, it was disgusting.
Finally after 4 hours at around midnight sat in reception with no help from the “receptionists” and our first night ruined (my mums birthday also) we found a fantastic hotel called Las Arenas who were brilliant, friendly, kind & helpful. Will definitely be returning here and NOT SAHARA SUNSET.
Very disappointed
Me and a group of 14 ladies came to stay here, we arrived in the Friday around 18-18:30 we got to reception and my friend was congratulated by the female behind the reception desk and asked for the booking name, then the male reception staff (Juan) raised his voice and said “no! No hen parties” we at first thought he was joking as there was no way he would of acted like this with a guest? But he wasn’t joking our faces all just dropped, we then had to spend hours and hours at the reception trying to find other accommodation which was extremely difficult!
We kept trying to get an explanation and try to understand what was going on????? As the stories we where getting told kept changing! This was all the first time any of us had been away from our families as a lot of us had young children so it was a big thing for us to go and to be treated this way was absolutely disgusting. I asked to speak to a manager but kept getting told he was either not there, not feeling very well, or he just didn’t want to speak to us!
So after ringing many different people and quite a few tears eventually we found another hotel at 12:30 at night!!!! We were all just completely overwhelmed and exhausted that we were treated the way we did. We also spoke to guests staying at Sahara and bar staff who said they frequently have stag and hen parties and we also looked on reviews and there was one staying there only last month, yet we where being told it had been a policy for a year?????
I hope Sahara are disappointed in themselves for how they treated 15 ladies. And I just hope that no one else gets out in the same situation.
Very unwelcome and unfriendly hotel
Booked into this Sahara sunset hotel Spain for a weekend with 13 friends
On arrival, my friend was greeted with congratulations as we were celebrating her hen weekend and her nans
birthday
Only to be told quite abruptly by the duty manager/ receptionist (who kept changing his job title)the hotel didn’t accept hen parties!! We booked through on the beach who were not told it was the hotels policy for no hen/stag parties
After a lot of waiting around ( 4 hours) we were told we couldn’t stay although there was another hen party in the hotel – The hotel was quite happy to have 13 women stranded in Spain!!!
Luckily we had a friend who was able to pay for us to stay in another hotel which was lovely and staff lovely I wouldn’t recommend Sahara sunset to anyone, not even a cockroach!!!!!
Their customer service was appalling and they had no thought or care for 13 women to be stranded in a foreign country!!
