Good all-inclusive option in Brazil
This is a pretty good all-inclusive resort option in Brazil. Here are some overall impressions:
– It takes around 1 hour from the airport to the resort. The airport is reasonable, and the road to the hotel is pretty good.
– Hotel staff was always ready and happy to help when we needed anything.
– Food goes from regular to good if you don’t like seafood, and from good, to very good if you like seafood. Try the acaraje at the buffet restaurant!
– The a-la-carte restaurants are a little bland, they don’t give the kind of experience you have in other larger resorts (as if you were going to one of the best restaurants in a mid-sized town). Try booking the restaurant at the beach for dinner, they don’t advertise it too much, but they serve some good seafood in a pretty nice setting.
– Drinks are quite good. Most of the time they use the good stuff, and if you ask they will use any of the available bottles.
– The best place in the hotel is the VIP area at the beach. The private van that takes you from the VIP villa to the beach is a nice touch.
– The beach itself is good, but not that impressive.
– The adult pool is good, but could be larger/have more options (like the water jets at the spa pool, that unfortunately is way too small). As a note, if you never went to a resort in Brazil before, you might find strange the number of uncivilized guests that you will see there.
Unfortunately, a bunch of people lack manners (so you will see people throwing thrash around, speaking loudly when that is not necessary, treating staff poorly etc), what fortunately doesn’t harm the overall experience that much (as it doesn’t happen that often).
Also, a pro-tip: if you couldn’t book the restaurant you wanted for dinner, you can try showing up anyway and ask to replace someone that didn’t show up. If you are a VIP, your request will most probably be accommodated (since most of the times the restaurants have a lot of open tables anyway).

Great place!
A really great all-inclusive hotel, located on a very beautiful beach.
The staff is very friendly and polite, ready to help with everything you need.
The room is big and clean. The food has quality and variety.
The restaurants for dinner are good.
The only point I think must be improved is the dessert.
They are beautiful, but the flavour and the quality are not so good.
I recommend this hotel for a relaxing vacation.
Amazing vacation!!!!
We spent 5 days in this resort.let’ss start:
1. the receptionist, very friendly, all of them speaks Spanish very fluently.
2. rooms are amazing, nice, new, clean, could not ask for something better.
3. food, i was expecting more local food, but it seems the hotel wants to please all the Argentinian guest, supposed is not a mistake… i liked the food, lots of options and good food.
4. swimming pool. many pools, lots of space, very clean, and lots of lifeguards in all of them.
5. beach…. beautiful beach, the drinks are the best one at the beach.
6. doctor.. one of my kids felt and open his head, we needed to see the nurse at 4 AM and then the doctor at 8 AM, the hotel sent the car to pick us up to the lobby and nurse was nice and helpful, could not say the same about the doctor, she was not helpful… to be honest, the lifeguard at pool knew how to handle my kid better than the doctor.. but overall, was not a massive incident… lucky us we made the insurance at the hotel, if not this could cost us a fortune..
7. animation… this was AMAZING !!! all day at the pool you have a massive team of animators that try to get everyone involved with many activities for all ages and genders. I must say there was a special animator that was in charge of everything, not sure if he was the manager, in case he wasnt, for sure he should be, if im not mistaken his name is Xandinho… always positive, always smiling, being nice with everyone… hotel should be very proud of him (it means they could give him a bonus :-) ).
8. dinner restaurants:
-churrascaria is the best one
-sushi, not good, and please note, you have 2 kinds of reservation the regular sushi one and the table one (is where the guy makes the show at the plata).
-the other one that i dont remember the name… was nice..
Kids loved it, they didnt want to join the kids club, but had a great time at the pool.
For sure this is a place to return!!!
The only minus was the wifi.. not really working outside the room or lobby.
Great structure but poor services
This resort has a really good structure but needs improvements in the services.
People are mostly bored with really bad service.
Room had some problems, tried to phone but had to walk back into the reception to try to solve the problem.
It would be 5 stars if they improved these little things.
Bad experience for cost quality relation
We wanted to experience the heat of north Brazil during July and decided to visit grand palladium imbassai for 1 week.
It cost us 6500usd for my wife and 4 kids
From moment 0 we arrived 10am and had to wait until 4 pm to get a noisy room beside the pool
Since we have a baby we asked for a change in the room which was granted in the end
That very same night we wanted to go out for dinner at one of the three restaurants and found out we could not due to the fact that we would have needed to make a reservation and nobody had told us about that.
We were gone during all day at the beach and in spite leaving express instructions of wanting to have the rooms clean when coming back they were most of the time undone
Those restaurants available we found that only the one called brasas has a reasonable service.
Japanese one has lousy fish
The Mediterranean , food taking to long to get served and when it does it arrives cold!!
We seemed to have insects or bugs in the room cause every morning we all waked up with several bites everywhere
People working there seem to be low motivated since attention is in general (only some exceptions) very bad with waiters having bad manners, cleaning ladies included.
Activities for kids are also to bad for baby’s. Babysitter doesn’t actually care if your kid successfully adapts to her moods or not.
Activities for bigger kids are lead by a women with bad character and existing infrastructure is not really guaranteeing any fun….
Short and sweet: I don’t recommend this place at all
Bad price quality
To much headaches for being on Holliday’s
Terrible vacation experience
First off, if you are an American (white) who speaks English, good luck! It was very hard to find anyone who spoke English, but we were able to get past that. We were absolutely astonished how prejudiced the majority of the resort was towards us. From servers at restaurants to bartenders, etc. we felt disrespected and looked down upon our entire trip.
I’ll start off from the beginning – there were 5 couples in our “party” – 10 people total. Upon arrival and check-in, 2 out of the 5 rooms were nice and those 2 couples did not have any complaints. The 3 other rooms ranged from “OK” to “Absolutely disgusting”. One of the rooms had dirty sheets (stains), no working phone and the fold-out couch was left un-made and folded out, one of the rooms had a broken sink that would not drain and the air conditioning barely functioned and the third room was flat-out disgusting – the bed had not been made with clean sheets, the bathroom was not even cleaned from the previous guest with “splatter” in the toilet… to keep things PG. Neither the shower nor sinks were cleaned and the used shampoo, soaps and conditioner were not replenished.
Next up came attempting to speak to someone at the front desk about getting our rooms taken care of (as they already should have been when we arrived!). That was an adventure in itself as when we called to the front desk asking for someone who spoke English, we’d either be put on hold for 3-5 minutes before they hung up, or they would just hang up right away. After a few attempts, we finally got ahold of someone, lodged our requests/complaints and tried to settle in. Maintenance was relatively quick, our room got our sheets changed out quickly and there were no problems there. The room which was never cleaned took longer, as expected, but it was cleaned. As for the broken sink and broken phones, neither of these problems were ever fixed over the duration of our trip (we asked at least once per day about the phone, receiving different excuses each time).
The grounds and layout of the resort are nice. The pools were laid out nicely as well. You have to walk on a board-walk down to the beach, but we knew that already and we got to see some wild monkeys a few times which was fun. The beach area is nice with plenty of chairs and space for everyone. When we were served drinks, they were as expected, if not a bit stronger. We had no complaints about the grounds themselves or the alcoholic drinks. There seemed to be quite a bit of construction going on while we were there, but that is hard to avoid and will hopefully lead to good things for the resort – they appeared to be building a kids’ play area while we were there.
Onto the food… we have stayed other places at All Inclusive resorts and we all realized coming in that the food is not going to be spectacular. However, we definitely expected a lot more. The nicest thing I can say about the buffets from day-to-day is that they were simply not good. There were a few things each day which were “OK”, but never anything that made us want to go back for seconds. The individual cooking stations were also generally “OK”, but far from “good”. The sushi restaurant was pretty good, though all of the portions were quite small. We were pleased with our experience there until we noticed the chef preparing all of the sushi was not wearing gloves and touching the raw food with his bare hands. DISGUSTING!! This made us a bit uneasy after eating all of the food before noticing. The Brazilian BBQ restaurant has a nice location – on the beach. That is the only good thing about this restaurant though. The beach where it was located was full of ants, so we were bitten by ants during our meal. The meal itself was not good – the “sides” were most of the same dishes from the buffets, only this time they ranged from not very warm to cold since the food is setup outside at this restaurant. The cuts of meat were nothing special with most of the steak being rubbery and chewy. We have had Brazilian BBQ in the U.S. and we had Brazilian BBQ in Brazil – this restaurant was not even close in quality. However, this was the one restaurant we had great waiter service in. We had stayed in another part of Brazil earlier in the week and were able to try a lot of different local Brazilian food which we enjoyed, so the problem with the food was not just that it was “different” from what we are used to back at home.
Making reservations for restaurants was pretty simple up in the lobby, though it was quite odd how empty all of the restaurants were. We were not actually told that the Japanese restaurant had hibachi-style food/service, however, we found out they did and wanted to try it. When we tried to book it, it was “fully booked up”, though when we dined in the Japanese restaurant at that same time we had tried to book the hibachi, we noticed that both the Japanese sushi and the hibachi parts of the restaurant were both almost completely empty. The same held true for the Brazilian BBQ restaurant – almost nobody there. We attempted to ask if we could walk-in and try one of the restaurants without a prior booking but were told it was full (when we could look in and clearly see it was not) and that we would not be admitted without a prior reservation receipt.
We were happy to find out upon arrival that the hotel had free Wi-Fi everywhere (lobbies, restaurants, rooms, etc.). However, the Wi-Fi seldom worked during the day, the only time we were able to reliably get onto the Wi-Fi was late at night (11 pm or later).
As I mentioned in the beginning of my review, service (lack thereof) was our number one complaint on this trip. There were many times where we would go to the bar and wait for long periods of time before being served. The bartenders would routinely serve other people and we were almost always the last ones served. The service at the buffets was just as bad, if not worse. There were multiple times where my wife and my father both actually got up themselves to pour their own coffee and I poured water for our table multiple times also after growing tired of waiting to be served. Now, as I mentioned, we are from America and speak English with almost no Portuguese. However, we still made an attempt. We learned how to ask for water and how to ask for coffee in Portuguese and we always made sure to ask politely and be polite to the wait staff. By the end of the trip though, we were fed up to be honest. We would ask for coffee or water and the staff would simply not bring anything to us. This happened every single time we were without my brother’s Brazilian wife. If she was there with us, we generally got much better service, more along the lines of what we would expect. If my brother and his wife were off doing other things, those of us who went to eat were treated terrible and given horrendous service, being treated as though we were an inconvenience to the wait staff.
On the second to last day of our stay, my wife and I noticed a very bad smell in our room. Luckily 2 of our other 5 rooms were next to our room, so I could use their phones (remember, our phone was broken the entirety of our stay). After plenty of being put on hold and back-and-forth, we got maintenance to come. We are not entirely sure what they said about the smell, but I think it is safe to assume there was some kind of dead animal smell since my father said he had seen a few maintenance men walking out of the building earlier in the day with smaller boxes which could be used for disposal of a smaller dead animal. Realizing these things happen, we tried to “go with the flow” and simply asked for another room so we could sleep without that smell before leaving. They did give us a room down the hall, which was fine. We were happy at first since this room had much better lighting than the other 5 and generally seemed like a “nicer” room overall. However, when I showered the next morning, I noticed that the water was dripping out of the side of the shower and onto the floor… perhaps that is why the room was open when we needed to move originally.
Before we were leaving and checking out (day prior), we told the front desk when we were checking out, when our transportation was to get to the airport, etc. The bellboys all seemed to work hard and the ones I saw did a good job. None of them was complaining while sweating in the heat carrying heavy luggage around. They were also quite nice whenever we saw them. The only complaint here was that they were late, but we had built in enough time that it was not a problem.
I know for a fact that my family can be very picky and hard to please, myself included. However, nothing that went wrong or that we complained about was overly nit-picking and are things that generally should not happen. We did not expect gourmet food with it being an All Inclusive, but this was very subpar. We did, however, expect to arrive to clean rooms, which did not happen. We worked around our broken sinks and phone during our stay, however, these are things one should not have to “work around” when paying a large amount of money to stay at a resort. Worst of all was the way we were treated. Honestly, it was unbelievable and hard to describe in words. We have been other areas in the world and have never been treated the way we were here – disrespected and blatant prejudice our entire stay. Overall, you could not pay me to go back here and I would caution any Americans (white) who do not speak Portuguese to pick somewhere else. Now I cannot speak for anyone else, but when I go on vacation, I do not expect to get disrespected and treated like garbage at a resort I am paying good money to stay at.
We stayed at this resort a month ago now and I waited to post my review because I wanted to be able to calm down and make sure I could be as impartial as possible in my review and not let my bitter emotions take over from right after the trip. It is tough to put into words how disappointed my whole family was with our trip.
Don’t waste your time, your money - or your vacation.
This hotel is dirty, tired and not at all what one would expect. The staff are unfriendly and inefficient. When one asks them a question, it all seems like too much trouble for them. Many of them struggle with even basic English, though there are a couple of mediocre English speakers at the front desk. Coupled with my extremely poor Portuguese, it made for interesting communications.
The “all-inclusive” restaurants open when they feel like it – and the Japanese restaurant only felt like opening once during my stay, when I was not actually in the hotel. I questioned this of the duty managers and they explained that it was because they were not fully booked. Well, in my humble opinion fully booked or not, if you sell a hotel based on your products and services, then you should offer them. The Japanese restaurant was one of the only reasons I selected this all-inclusive resort, I normally avoid them like the plague.
Instead, they offered a truly appalling Indian restaurant where the food made me quite ill afterwards. As far as the other eating options available, the food is average at best and not so plentiful. Their breakfast offerings were just awful.
I guess since they were not full that housekeeping was also when they felt like it – and they clearly did not feel like it very often. Even when they did service the room, it was cursory and they did not restock the minibar often (but then since this is included it was no loss to them. I am sure if one had been paying for the contents it would have been replenished immediately).
I booked a “suite” and foolishly expected a “suite”. No, the suites here are just large rooms with a sitting area – not a suite at all. I had a flood in my room due to a faulty AC system and despite frequent calls, no-one ever came prior to my departure.
The “all-inclusive” term is subjective too – there are few things included, but many one can pay for. They even tried to charge me for internet access! For the price of this place, you are entitled to certain expectations – none of which are even close to being met.
Rooms, amenities and services at this resort are a disgrace. Same your money and stay at a hostel, you may be treated better.
I would certainly not return, nor would I ever recommend this resort to anyone – even as a last resort.
54 out of 60 people got sick including babies..
I usually have good comments on hotels, but this one, in particular, was a nightmare.
We went during the Christmas week. After the fourth day may one-year-old baby started throwing up and having a temperature (he had never before this) then I got sick and after me my husband. The doctor that was in the hotel told us that there were several babies having this illness. So, returning home and talking to the other passengers of the plane that had gone to the hotel ALMOST EVERY CHILD, BABY AND ADULT HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. So, the last three days and ten days after going to the hotel were spent taking care of the baby who crying in pain because it causes extreme pain in the throat…Poor little thing…and the others as well.
So, i’m furious. They charge you for the doctor for something that was clearly their fault. We will complain to the hotel and to the travel agent. IT’S VERY STRANGE WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE GET SICK…..CLEARLY HOTEL’S FAULT. I’ve never heard of something similar.
Not worth it.
If this is not enough, all mornings there was a line to reserve to have dinner full of people. so you spend an hour to book.
The last day we had to leave the room at 6pm and called and said that we were leaving at 9pm, if we had to do something, they told us no but when we returned to the room, it was locked so we had to go and complain again.
Shame on the hotel’s organization.
Badly organized. Fuuuull of people. The rooms overlooking the pool must face loud music coming from it.
Not worth to pay for this unpleasant experience there and the following days
Seeing my baby in such agony…not worth it.
And…he was not the only one
Go to that other resort nearby instead
We arrived on a Sunday around 4 pm, to find our room was not ready.
Long story short, it took us 5 hours to get to a room, meanwhile, we saw guest shouting at the reception and one of them was calling the police. We got scared, but since the Iberostar nearby was closed due to a convention, we had to option.
While waiting we went to the sports bar, there was a very good snacks menu there, but when we asked for a cheese sandwich the cook went down on tears, explaining he was overloaded, there was no one to prepare the food he would cook, he had also to serve and there was no one stocking the bar. He could only serve pizzas, mini burgers and nuggets. He found some chicken balls, fried for us and we had that with water since the bar had no diet sodas of any kind.
Dinner that day was worse than the worse school cantine, and we both ate soup, pizza em some desert.
The bedroom was beautiful, but reception failed to tell us that block 21 was beside the adults swimming pool which played loud lounge music until 23:00. Next day we changed rooms. The new room was equally beautiful, silent and not so far ( block 26 ).
During the week the major problem we found was the lack of everything everywhere. No orange juice for a drink in the Segredos bar by the swimming pool, no diet sodas, Smirnoff, and even coconut water. During the week, if you wanted to have your breakfast by the pool, it was impossible because they only opened the indoor buffet.
On lunchtime, if you wanted to have a nice relaxing lunch, it was impossible because they only opened the swimming pool restaurant, where you had to listen to the loud music from the hydro gym class and the restaurant music and the children from the kids club.
Dinner had to be reserved, there was one line only, long and slow, by the reception. The Japanese was nice, but you have to specially reserve the teppanyaki table. Indian was terrible and with small portions and the churrascaria was a joke. Brazilians begging for picanha and foreigners having to chase the servers off ( I am Brazilian, my husband Dutch, we were offered picanha several times and could see the Brazilians being ignored by the server ).
There was a lobster picanha diner, generally is by the beach but due to weather conditions had to be by the pool and it was terrible, we left the chewy lobster there and went for the buffet.
On Friday night the guests of the 99 bucks promotion arrived. What can I say? Scum!
They would order repetitive shots of whisky to fill a small water bottle to drink from it at 10 am. They would come from a beach walk, not go through the swimming pool shower and jump, underwear and all in the pool. Worst was Saturday, they brought children to the adults swimming pool, security was called, they did not leave, were violent against security, and we left when we saw more security people arriving.
Even the Spa they spoiled for us. Although the minimum age is 16, we saw several teenagers younger than that jumping from water jets, doing flips, shouting, a nightmare.
At night, a drunk guess stole one of the golf car and glass on had driven all through the hotel with his equally drunk family, shouting and laughing. We and a family with children had to look for shelter behind a tree.
The beach is nice and the bar and restaurant there are very quaint. However, there were 16 beach umbrellas for a hotel of more than 600 guests. They had to build the palapas yet.
The hotel is very very very far from Praia do Forte Village and there is no free shuttle. Praia do Forte village is adorable and being close to it is a plus.
We made an official complain to our tour agency in the Netherlands, and since there were several other complains about the same issues, we got 30% of our money back.
The only advice I have: go to the Iberostar, both the Iberostar Bahia and Iberostar Praia do Forte are nicer, better located, better guests, better food, better beach and if you go on high season you will barely notice.
