The Worse Vacation Resort Ever!!!
We just got back from the Flamingo a few days ago and it was not a good stay. It started to go downhill at check-in.
The check-in system was down so we had to do a paper check in which created a very long wait. Finally, after about 2 hours we finally got our room. We were disappointed as soon as we walked in.
The first thing we saw was a refrigerator with rust all over the door. The cabinet doors did not match, there were scratches on the walls. The room overall was outdated and below our standards. We decided to give it a night to decide if we would request a room change. The next morning we decided to upgrade to an ocean/pool view suite. The room was very nice no complaints there at all.
We stayed at the Flamingo from Sunday to Sunday and EVERY day we went without power for hours on end. When I say every day that is no exaggeration, all 7 days for hours. During the power outages, the Flamingo lobby and all other stores and resorts on the island still had power. We would wake up in the middle of the night with the room 80 degrees or more.
It got to the point that we had to go buy candles so we weren’t sitting in complete darkness at night. We were on the 5th floor so when the power was out we no choice but to take the stairs. About mid-week my wife was scared to take the elevator when there was power for fear of getting stuck on it if the power went out.
I contacted the Flamingo 2 days they took my information and said the general manager will contact me within 24 hours. I am not surprised that I did not get a call yet but they haven’t heard the last of me.
When you plan your yearly vacation months in advance in anticipation of having a memorable vacation and your memories are sitting by candlelight at night, sweating profusely in your room, not being to cook when you like, hiking up and down 5 flights of stairs if leaves a lot to be desired.
We definitely will be returning to the island but not this resort.

Worst hotel from our trip
We were returning from our vacations to Cuba and were looking for a convenient hotel not too far from the airport with an access to the beach as we had only a one night overnight in St Marteen.
We chose the Flamingo Beach Resort based on the comments but that was definitely not a wise decision.
We booked an Oceanfront Suite which was around 180 USD for the night on a room only basis. For that kind of price, you would expect a minimum attention to the guests and a good service.
First of all we were informed upon arrival that the elevator next to our room was not working…which apparently made the front office agent laugh but not us. We were also advised that the checkout was at 10am whereas in most of the hotels it would be 11am or noon. They offered us a late checkout but of course with some extra fees. They showed no flexibility at all while we can clearly see that the hotel is not full and it is just a nice gesture that doesn’t cost much to the hotel but I guess it was too much to ask. There was also heavy works going on next to our room that you can also hear from the beach. Of course, no one informed us.
No need to talk about the cockroaches we saw in the corridors and the fact that there is no one on the beach to assist you so we had to carry ourselves our sunbeds to the beach.
The staff is not particularly friendly and show no empathy for their guests. You just feel like being a number amongst others. The hotel itself is just a big concrete structure with no charm whatsoever. It reminds a bit those resorts built in the 70s or 80s on the Costa Brava. For this kind of room rate, we would have expected something different.
In summary, it is an outdated Resort with NO guests service culture. There are thousands better options in the Carribean so make sure to really think twice before booking this hotel
Just OK
I stayed here recently and was disappointed at the service and facilities. Shower water pressure was off the roof!! it hurt just to shower. No room cleaning if you don’t stay longer than 3 nights…
Just doesn’t cut it for business travel, will stay somewhere else on my next trip
Not a place I would go again!
The cleaning staff is terrible. Never on time. Never do a good job.
Beach is nice.
Other vacationers are nice but often complain about Diamond, the people who operate the chain of time-shares.
Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else on the Island.
Horrible deterioration of Flamingo
Upon my arrival at my unit at the Flamingo, I was appalled at what the management has done to the entire experience, from my unit and to Flamingo overall. A huge restaurant was built in front of my beachfront unit and about 6 neighbouring beachfront units. This has resulted in the blockage of my beachfront view, continuous noise and music from the restaurant and exposure to cooking smells (garlic, onions, frying) ALL day and evening.
Flamingo used to be a beautiful resort with a beautiful clean wide open beach and no noise. Now all I see is a restaurant in front of my unit., I am exposed to loud music all day from the restaurant and cooking smells. There was no owner approval or consent for the placement of this restaurant. Don’t look for quiet by the pool either- because the music is playing all day there too.
In previous years my co-owner had roaches in our unit from the restaurant.
What has been done to Flamingo is distasteful and very unpleasant and very upsetting.
Furthermore the unit itself needs updating. The sofa bed exterior was filthy. The sofa bed was not made. We had to do it ourselves. The kitchen cabinets, bathroom and unit décor are cheap and outdated.
The housekeeping was poor with no daily garbage collection or clean towels. My experience with other resorts on St Maarten was completely different with daily clean towels and garbage removal.
The parking is very insufficient for the amount of guests there.
Most days I could not find the beach attendant for a chair.
There is some kind of exposed wiring to the left side of the beach. What is that?
The beach is not clean. The water was murky.
Concierge service rates poorly with me. I called for a reservation, was told she was busy and would call me back. She never did.
Also if you own a timeshare there as I do, expect to be called repeatedly for timeshare meetings. I was called one morning at 8am and my entire family was awakened, I never asked to attend any meeting in order to buy more timeshare or for any updates so they call them. I would never buy anything at Flamingo.
Horrible experience. Now I am sorry I own a timeshare there.
Don’t walk away from Flamingo, run away.
