I’m here at the moment on £99 promotional holiday ..with intention of purchasing the point scheme.
The rooms are awful, old, not equipped – no glasses to drink out of .. it hasn’t been a cheap holiday 50 euro each way transfers.

Only 1 restaurant open 60 -80 euro meal for – very nice but expensive has is everything else
20 euro return taxi 2 Fuengirola which is a tip ..Blackpool is a paradise compared to this resort
To buy into club la Costa is £23,000 plus £1,000 a year costs £695 admin and £166 membership for 19yrs for 2 weeks a year holiday plus flights and transfers on top .
Please don’t use this promotional week as a cheap holiday it is not.

We were. Fortunately we only paid for a Trial Membership (which we got for less than £3000.)
The holiday for 4 at £29.50 each – CON – when you try to book it for 4, after already having paid the 4 x £29.50 – you end up with a further bill for about £600 for so-called taxes etc. Enough said we didn’t take it.
Yes, your introductory week at California Suites in the Costa del Sol will lull you into a false sense of security. It’s beautiful. 5 star all the way. This is what they claim to be selling – a 5-star holiday experience for life for about £20 grand! CON – we went to Tenerife with them to Paradise Club, most definitely a 3-star experience. We booked for Bali, but the brochure accommodation was not available. We had to pay an additional £100 to book via their Worldwide facility. Have just returned from beautiful Bali – but the apartment was definitely 2 star.
We booked to go to the Monterey in Tenerife next February for one week because we were told it is 5 star. After we booked a one-bed apartment our son decided he would like to come with a friend. I rang to upgrade to a 2-bed apartment. I was told sorry there were non-available, but they could let me have an additional apartment for my son. I booked it. I have just found out that because we took the second apartment we have lost our final week ( I understand the logic, but wasn’t told at the time – I still thought I had a week left.)
I am yet to find out if Monterey is as 5 star as California Suites.
Please don’t be conned by these people. They do have some 5-star places but claim in the extremely hard sell (which you have to go through every time you book a week through them) that in buying into Club la Costa you are buying into a 5 star holiday dream for life.
This is completely untrue – out of my 6 total weeks, so far 3 have been well below what my husband and I would usually travel to.
Also, while there is no maintenance involved in the Trial Membership, we were told by a couple who are on the Points system on our very first visit that they had bought in 9 years ago and were paying about £300 in maintenance per year and were told it would never go up very much. They are now paying just short of £1,000 per year in maintenance.
Save yourself money and grief. Book a great 5 star holiday through a travel agent and get what you really pay for.
Invited to CLC Paradise with friends who were gold members. Accommodation can only be described as dire. Our friends have been CLC members for over 10 years and always spoke so highly of the properties and locations they had visited, including Paradise. Unfortunately, on this visit, we were given an exceedingly shabby and cramped apartment – something you would expect from a cheap budget holiday.
On politely complaining to the management and requesting to be moved on two occasions, and also complaining to the Rep (Chantelle) our requests were totally ignored. Following this visit I strongly recommend that you consider seriously whether to join this “Outfit” as once they have your well-earned money, customer care seems to be forgotten! As in previous poor reviews, it appears they save the best accommodation for prospective and new members, and once you’re hooked they don’t really care!
Never again! Avoid at all costs!
The place is nice and you get lovely views from most of the rooms. We decided to go along with the promotional week, booked flights and yes the holidays was quite inexpensive – only paid for flights but…!
Maybe we only have ourselves to blame for not doing any research into CLC beforehand but the presentation took from 9:00 till almost 17:00 in which we got totally brainwashed into buying something which would have financially ruined us for next 16 years! And at this point I would like to say big thank you to the client liaison officer who saw big worries on my face and told us not to sign and think about it! Thank you!
Ok so the deal was we’d buy a timeshare for £250 a month for 18 years + annual £999 maintenance fee and we can have holidays with Club La Costa anytime we want! What a bargain! Right? No! The price is with no flights and if you read about them on the internet most of the time u can’t get places when you want them or they change ur resorts last minute! Can’t really say more because we have never took part but I wouldn’t fancy same holiday every year!
Anyway after initial hesitation, the deal got knocked down to first year to £97 and then £172 after – miraculously someone handed timeshare back in a few days before! This is the deal we were considering but then the pressurising into signing there and then got too much! We even got told we get a free ipad at which one of our salesmen nearly fell of the chair ( she was on the job only 2nd day! Yeah right! And she cried when we said we were considering becoming members!) The whole day they wouldn’t leave us for 5 mins alone to have chance talk about it and all my worries were brushed off by saying how much We will save on our holiday!
Like I said luckily at last signature a lady told us we can sleep on it and that the ‘great’ deal would wait for us!
After reading lots of horror stories on google and doing simple maths we were shocked with what the two salesmen who I thought were both genuine and nice were trying to sell us!
Felt sick to my stomach all day!
Please don’t fall into the trap!
The icing on the cake was when we were leaving the lady on reception was accusing us of losing one room key and one key from the safe, even though we only had one key from the room and no safe!
Location of the hotel isn’t great either as you’re on the hill and its a fair walk from shops and beaches. On the plus side, cleaners were doing a fantastic job and food in Zachary’s was nice.
This is transit accommodation for their sales pitch. We were given without warning a 1 bedroom apartment for a couple and 3 year old. We were told the marketing accommodation would be similar to our normal expectations but this fell far short. There was no aircon or Internet which could only be used in the restaurant.
We were duped a little and when we were offered a ‘free’ holiday we forgot that when something seems too good to be true it probably is.
No way is this our normal standard or anywhere close to the members’ accommodation in standard.
I’m not sure why if you go to test drive a Porsche you get to see the Porsche but test drive a Vauxhall Nova!
Sleepless nights, back-breaking bed and not a nice place for us. I accept it will suit some people but if like us, you normally stay in high-grade accommodation, this isn’t it.
It was clean and after our 3rd move the utilities were OK but having lost 24hrs moving and unable to unpack it did take the edge off.
Also when we did encounter problems having been given the wrong type of accommodation reception had no power to put things right outside of working hrs. We were told that because we travelled on a Friday it was a day off and no manager available.
If low-grade apartments are your thing it will serve you well.
`Paradise ` sounds like a Carry On Film and is not much better!
Just returned from a one week stay at this resort. Having stayed at other RCI timeshare resort we were expecting a very high standard, we were very wrong!. We found…
1)Reception staff that gave the impression that everything was just to much trouble.
2)One lifeguard on duty over three pools, two are next to each other the third a five minute walk away. This was despite a sign saying all three pools would be manned.
This lifeguard spend most of his time on his mobile or reading a book.
3)Outside general cleanness very poor, swimming pools cleaned once during our week. We picked out rubbish during our swim, i.e. cigarette ends, crisp packets etc. Although the maids did a fantastic job cleaning the rooms they gave 100%. They came three times during the week.
4)Security was a joke. We were woken up a few time over a couple of days by kids ringing the doorbell and running, this was on both occasions after midnight. When we called security they did come but knew the kids by name and commented “they are just kids having fun”!!! When we complained the next day reception told us they would keep an eye out. After this we put a piece of cardboard in the buzzer so it would not ring if the button was pressed.
5)On another night we were awoken at 4 AM by a party of adults in the swimming pool drinking and shouting for about an hour. Again we call security and were told “THE POOL IS OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY, but they would have a word!
6)Watch out for the offer of a free breakfast, everyone gets one. You are escorted by a rep who tries to sell you more timeshare. We guessed what was going on so enjoyed our free breakfast and ignored him and just spoke amongst ourselves. We would not even look at him he got the message in the end a walked off without finishing his breakfast
Apart from the above the complex is at the top of a very steep hill. Most people either walk down or use a Taxi but you have to use a TAXI back. My Wife is a fitness freak and she had trouble walking up the hill. Taxis were approx 3 euros each way to the beach.
As I had stated above we have stayed at many RCI complexes in the past and never once had a complaint but this was something else. Our advice is to give it a very wide berth.
