Most timeshare contracts contain a cancellation clause, which usually exists early in the contract for a set period of time. This can vary between countries and resorts, but it is usually anywhere between 5-10 days.
If you have recently signed a timeshare contract check quickly if you are within the cancellation period, the timeshare company cannot refuse your claim if it falls within the correct timeframe.
The best way to cancel your timeshare contract is to write a letter to the company. Be sure to include the following:
- Your full name (as appears on the contract)
- Your address, phone number, email etc.
- The name and description of the timeshare your purchased
- A full statement showing that you are cancelling the contract
Once you have all the information, ensure you send the letter to the timeshare company, within the cooling-off period. A handy tip would be to use a recorded delivery to make sure the letter arrives on time and is then signed for by the company.
